A former London-based film director has been brutally murdered and dismembered by his parents in an honour killing after he returned to his home country of Iran, police said.

The chopped up body of Babak Khorramdin, 47, was found in rubbish bags and a suitcase in the town of Ekbatan, western Tehran, on Sunday.

An argument had broken out between the father and son over Babak's unmarried status, according to reports.



Mohammad Shahriari, the head of the Tehran Criminal Court, saidthe father confessed he anaesthetised his son, stabbed him, cut up his body and threw his remains in the rubbish.

Following his confession, both parents have been arrested while an investigation is carried out.

Police say they have also found evidence of the grisly murder in the family home.

I really don't understand why marriage is such a big deal to older generations.

My father constantly gives me grief for not being married, as if it's some sort of accomplishment in life.

I'm educated with a good salary job but apparently that doesn't matter, the only thing that matters is getting married and producing kids - nevermind half his friends are divorced with kids that are total fcck ups... and yet he lives in some Disney fairy tale about how marriage is bliss...
