People enjoying covid culture
I don't get it. I've been noticing a ton of people ever since it all started who are real enthusiastic about this covid crap. you can tell they're not doing it to try and be safe and keep themselves from getting sick because they bought into it, but they legitenjoywearing masks, social distancing, taking selfies with their PPE and masks. Had some guy introduce himself to me, I go for a handshake and he reflexively backs off and enthusiastically says "No no no, let's bump elbows!" like it's a fun game we're all playing.
Had my bro tell me he went to some restaurant that had a takeout window. He walks up with his mask on and the ******* on the other side sing-songs "mask goes over the nose!" like it's some ****gy Fauci jingle he heard on plebbit.
Then you got the people who are legit excited to get the vaccine. Again it's not out of wanting to avert any risk because they believe covid is real, but because it's a badge of honor. I remember seeing someone post about some ****gy retard on plebbit who got a vaccine tattoo after they got the shots.
I mean I just don't fgucking get it. Why the enthusiasm? Why are people excited and think there is something novel about all this? Like it's a big part of their personality now.

Modern life is hollow and meaningless for the vast majority of people, unless they're in a career where they can do whatever tf they want, or picked something that is inherently meaningful/sacrificial for the sake of others or otherwise dangerous
for everyone else, covid has given them a chance to feel like they're part of something larger, and that the actions they take on a day to day basis are driving toward some greater public good, and it's providing them a sense of meaning and fulfilment they probably haven't experienced in years, or more likely, decades

My grandparents tell me to get the shot all the time and they lifted mask mandates in my area and there are still plenty of people wearing masks all day

As much as "virtue signaling" has become a buzz word, it is still a real thing, and this has become an easy way to virtue signal without having to be sheepish about it.
With that said, I personally love wearing masks because it makes me anonymous when I go out as I don't want to have to run into someone I know and make small talk to them - I love this for me!

Back when they were rolling out COVID I was having a great time. My work split is into shifts where one week you’d work 2 12 hour days, next week 3, then 2 again, and still paid us for 40. That was one of the most enjoyable times of my life and the closest I’ll ever get to summer vacation again.
Now people are just getting off on it. For a lot of people, their mask has become like a 3 year old’s “blankie” or stuffed animal. And they want everyone else to have a blankie too because they are such fat pussies.

It seems to be the same sort of people; those that live in the city, love the corporate structured life full of rules and regs, and love to virtue signal. I am a very private person, I prefer solitude or to be in the company of people that I am very close to. That is enough for me, but I don't take any special joy out of the lockdowns.
I've seen people lose their jobs, have to line up in massive numbers at food banks, become homeless, become isolated from their family and loved ones, and had their constitutional rights completely denied. I've seen rich people and their corporations prosper without following guidelines, while houses of worship are blocked and invaded by armed police.
In Europe they've deployed dogs and water cannons on lockdown protestors along with other brutality. It's more than masks, it's the culture of authoritarian governments during economic crisis. This is how China operates, our leaders have openly announced that they are taking pointers from China to create these policies. Mao's China, much like the USSR, is not a good place to be religious, a dissident, free, or freethinking.
All this quarreling over surface issues like masks and dating apps does not get to the root of what's happening. We have seen a dramatic restructuring of society and the beginning of fascist overreach. Instead of nationalism being the excuse, it's a thin veneer of pseudointellectual benevolence from the owners of our society. If it was really all about goodwill and protecting our health, then it would not have to be enforced through such violent means.

I don't care much for the actual "culture" but there are many things that I truly enjoy that came from this:
- I actually like wearing a mask in stores. I'm an introvert and don't enjoy making small talk or even having to make facial expressions at people. I don't like giving people that fake smile hello. Having a mask makes all that so much easier. And it's harder to talk so it gives a better excuse to not have to talk to people (I always enjoyed the dentist much better than the barber because I knew I didn't have to make awkward small talk with the dentist).
- curbside ordering has made things so much more convenient. Being either buying groceries from the phone app and having some Walmart guy put them right in my trunk or having a restaurant worker bring out my food is great.
- telehealth doctors visits. I had to have a specialist doctor appointment recently and did it via an app on my phone. Instead of driving to the office, waiting in the waiting room for an hour, then waiting another 20 minutes in the exam room, I just clicked the link on my phone and boom the doctor was right there.
- and finally the best thing ever is my job is permanently work from home from now on. They actually aren't renewing my office lease. Especially for me who has a full time salaried job but only actually works maybe 30 hours a week, working from home is fuking amazing. I wake up when I want, I watch TV all day long, and I go out throughout the day to do errands and other chit I need to get done in my personal life. It's seriously amazing and will never do an office job again.
So yeah, covid has been pretty great to me.
