Alden, with cordovan leather. Preferably, boots. Allen Edmonds is an acceptable backup plan. Pay extra for the cordovan leather, it's worth it. Take care of them. Buy American or English.

Allen Edmonds. Made in the US and reasonably priced if you get their slightly imperfect factory seconds. It's around the same as most Cole Haans, but infinitely better quality.
