Some elderly lady was giving away a couch in a local 55+ community (last year) and had to make multiple trips on different weeks (2-piece). I went in there and noticed that there was a couple like age 30 living in one of the houses there.

I went back this week since it was a while and they are still over there.

I looked at the home prices, and it's between $200-$300 where the typical homes range from $500K-$700K in the surrounding area.

I looked at the rules of the community online and it says no one under the age of 55 is allowed to live there. There isn't a 80/20 rule in there.

So wtf misc?

Are they frauding the system?

Do I ignore? It sort of pisses me off seeing people gaming the system and own a house for nearly a quarter of the price.

Seeing as the last sale was only a couple years back and for $200K, it screams of something sketch going on.

I looked it up again, and it specifically mentions something similar, but it says if you are younger than 55, you can buy a home, but you can't live there, you have to rent it out to someone over 55.

It prob depends on the rules. some people there rent and some people own. Nobody really says anything when younger people are running around but old people are nosy and will always ask about your business.

Im sure you can inheriet a condo and you can keep it. maybe you can even rent or buy one. not really sure. but if there are strict rules the old farts will try to find out and snitch on you

Yea, I know some places allow that depending on location, but specifically this area in California mentions in there HOA, that no one is allowed. I even looked it up on the city website and it says the same thing.

I emailed the city just because I was curious if I can buy a cheap house over there. Better to get it from the horse's mouth I'm thinking.

It just kills me knowing that everyone has to pay over $500K for a similar home. It makes it extremely unfair if they are the only young people living there.

I didn't see anyone else that wasn't old. It's a retirement community and it shows. It's extremely quiet, and no restaurants nearby. No stores other than 99 cents and CVS. But it isn't a ghetto community, it's relatively nice.

Has misc never experienced housing fraud?
