We all know the answer is an unequivocal yes.
Humanity / society has been on a gradual but steady decline since approx 1954 at a rate so incremental our brains were able to adapt to the social changes and influences from one yera to the next, that is, up until approx. 2008 when there became a mass proliferation of smart phones, after which, the unabated and destructive reliance on digital technology forced our brains to over-think, analyze and derive so much from 1's and 0's on a screen that has challenged every last one of us while demanding we adapt to technology we have NOT yet evolved to fully comprehend, leading to one thing and one thing only >the complete and total breakdown of communication between all ages, genders and races and the collapse of society as we know it.

On a srs note though one of the clerks at the post office I used to go in to said he and his wife moved to Wyoming from North Pole Alaska about 5yrs ago, said it was still like the 80s and 90's up there. Hardly any cell phones, no one locking their doors and if you saw someone on the side of the road then you got out and made sure they were taken care of.
Dead srs thinking about going to see that little town next time I happen to be up in AK.

Best eras, without question. Will it happen again, unlikely.
SHOWS:
- In order to get shows back to what they used to be (morals, lessons, family, fun, enjoyable) you got to get rid of the WOKE liberal mob in control of it.
MOVIES:
- See point made in SHOWS
MUSIC:
- Need to get rid of the female and male rappers who think talking about drugs, gangs, money and sex is good music. It's not. **** music like this needs to stop being glorified.
SCHOOLS/EDUCATION:
- The woke liberal agenda needs to be squashed. Kids need to be taught what they need to and move on - let kids just go to school, learn and leave.
That's just some of the things I got off the top of my head.

Another 'weren't the 90s awesome' type thread.
Yeah, they were. But we can't, go back. I'd say let's try and make the best of today.

Considering this exact thread has been made daily for a month
It clearly shows that things truly have become worse socially

The 80s were a fun time to grow up also.
The internet and social media certainly has changed things, not always for the best. This seems more like an angry time compared to the past. At least it comes across that way to me.

Interesting question, and it's natural for me to say YES because I grew up in 90's (1986 crew). But my father was born in the 50's and he said the 70's were the best - and how can I tell him he's wrong? I have no idea what it was like.
It would also depend on where you were living - BRB living in 90's Kosovo

GOAT music
GOAT movies
GOAT video games
GOAT TV
GOAT culture
No social media
No smartphones
You could just live your life without being connected to everyone all the time, every idiot didn't have a voice shouting over you, people were more real. People actually went out and enjoyed life, they could actually go out things like concerts and enjoy the moment. Life wasn't full of people trying to record everything all the time, you could just be yourself. Politics wasn't a mess, people weren't politically obsessed. Life was just more simple.

Yeah, people weren't distracted by smartphone tech and all this phony BS. I feel very lucky, indeed, to have enjoyed quality time with some quality people during this decade!!! I wish that for Gen Z and their children, I really do.
Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.
Let's show RESPECT for the POLICE and ALL FIRST RESPONDERS by helping to keep THEM SAFE AND SOUND, and thereby able to PROTECT US!

The 90s were the best era, but lol @ people claiming best TV shows or best music.
- lots of cheesy pop music filling the charts there, 70s-80s totally mog the 90s
- TV shows from the 2010s mog any other decade thanks to streaming allowing coherent stories

It's all a matter of perspective. I romanticize the 90s cuz that's when I grew up and it was nice from a simplistic perspective. With technology being what it is nowadays, things are easier than ever. I can browse the internet while taking a schit. I don't have to drive into the city to see my doctor, I can just video call her. The entire world was able to essentially shut down because of covid and it was nearly business as usual with video call software.
Having the choice, I'd jump in a time machine back in the 90s, sitting on my front stoop with friends in the ass-sweat-dripping-down-the-crack-of-my-ass-like-niagara july heat, trading pokemon cards and eating candy.

It would also depend on where you were living - BRB living in 90's Kosovo
It would also depend on where you were living - BRB living in 90's Kosovo
Two things that stand out to me- the rapid change in acceptance of coarse content [language, sex, violence] and the ramp up in division and hatefulness.
I think the first thing I took note of was when swearing became allowed on regular broadcast TV. Then more suggestive sex scenes, and after that the inclusion of gay characters in pretty much every single program even though LGBT is maybe 5% of population. You see way more LGBT in mainstream programming than Hispanic or Asian characters.
In a sense childhood is being killed off again. It happened before when the Industrial Revolution lead to children being exploited as labor in dangerous factory jobs. This time more and more kids are being raised by single parents and are exposed to adult content/unrestricted internet at a very young age.
Maybe I'm just old-fashioned, but I think you should be able to have on broadcast radio or TV without constantly monitoring if the content is age appropriate. There are plenty of other places for that content to be available.
Then the increased division and hate which seems to be fanned by social media and also by mainstream news which now operates more as entertainment seeking market share vs. a source of reliable information.
Sad, but true that most large groups of so-called grown ups operates much the same as high school with the same type of cliques and gossip.
I was in high school in the 80's and even in that hormone fueled arena of teenagers jostling for social dominance I never saw this much ugliness. Sure, there were different groups and people were labeled accordingly; nothing like this though.

Yes it was, not because of consumerism or the music or the movies (even though some of it was awesome) but because the plebs like us had a level of freedom and wealth that we had never ever seen before.
You look through history, hell you can even look at corrupt third world countries in Africa, South America or Asian countries as an example, the top dogs hold/held all the wealth and power while the rest of us were in extreme poverty learning to keep our mouths shut to hold on to the few scraps that we owned. If we stepped out of line it was off to the gulags, one bad crop and we would be wiped out.
The western world developed such a beautiful system that no-one was above criticism, everyone could be held to account. The individual was sacred, the presumption of innocence (because the fate of sending an innocent man to prison is worse than sending a guilty man free), free speech, using capitalism to lift society out of poverty through hard work and self reliance but still having religious and community groups help those that fell on their hands. Competent people getting hired as opposed to people who just have connections.
The fact that plebs like us have the right to be able to tell that a president, your boss or cop that they are incompetent is so magnificent that it's lost.
The fact that plebs like us could choose a different path and have the same equal opportunities as everyone else to do whatever we want (back to my earlier point of competent people being hired) that it led to such a seismic shift in technology we don't even realize it. Up until recently we used to live the same life as our grandparents and their grandparents. Meaning the same simple life, no electricity, same shovel, same horse etc.. . This is probably the first time in history that we are living differently from our grandparents and our grandchildren will live differently form us.
We are heading for a new dark ages with wokeism, identity politics and extreme environmentalism
