What should I do about my roommate's dog?
Buddy bought a place back in 2018. Best friend and I moved in expecting the owner to be the responsible clean one.
Couldnt be more wrong. This dude is the absolute worst. I have no respect for him anymore. He is beyond incompetent. I dont know how he has even survived this long. Just a beta, lazy, messy, dumb, low IQ, obese POS. About a year in he started talking about getting a puppy. We shut that down because he cant even take care of himself. No way he can take care of a puppy. Finally a couple months ago he finally pulled the trigger and got a little vizsla puppy. We expected him to be a 1/10 owner. Literally couldnt have had any lower of expectations..... he has someone greatly fallen short of those low low low expectations. Puppy poops and pees all over the house. She once had 6 accidents in one day. A week in he was already complaining saying "I thought I was ready for this". Dude hasnt walked her since early april. Every weekend he does his normal thing reffing, golfing, friends, dinners, bars, etc. Puppy is kenneled the whole time. Pretty sure as I type this she has been in the kennel for at least 69 of the past 72 hours. This is animal abuse at this point. Last weekend we all went out for a steak dinner and he was complaining that our other friend didnt come because he had been golfing all day and wanted to go home and let his new dog out and spend time with it. Like being a responsible dog owner is bad or something. Its clear he really just wants something he can pay attention to when its convenient and snuggle with on the couch. He should have gotten a cat
Cliffs:
Roommate is a lazy, dumb, obese POS
Got puppy despite our objections
Hasnt walked puppy since early april
Keeps it locked up in the kennel all weekend every weekend while he lives life like normal
As I type this the puppy has been in the kennel for like 69/72 hours since friday evening

I raged reading that. Poor pupper is being neglected. No walks since April? Locked in a kennel for days? Your roommate is fukn scum. I don’t know what to suggest other than call out your subhuman roommate.

He can’t have a bad owner if he’s dead. Nomsayin
But realistically do the right thing and find him a proper home. I could help you.. Ded fkn srs. Vizslas need an incredibly dedicated and responsible owner. That poor helpless dog doesn’t deserve 10+ years of misery and the hell you described. Don’t be scared to PM brah

Just took her out to go to the bathroom and walked her a bit. Roommate drove past and was in a fun jokey mood asking "Hey are you stealing my dog?" Told him I wasnt trying to be a dick, but this is fuked. This is animal abuse at this point. He drove away in disgust. Home now and he is acting all awkward.
P.S. When I went into his room to get her there was dog poop in his room. She was in the kennel so she must have done that at an earlier point and he just hasnt cleaned it up yet.... this is the laziness we are dealing with here

What a piece of chit, when I got a dog I was dedicated for months on getting her trained properly. Taking her on walks at least twice a day, taking her everywhere I went, always trying to work on her behavior, heck I am still dedicated to taking my dog out on a good walk at least once a day.
I hate it when people who want to live these bullchit self indulgent lifestyles think it's a good idea to get a dog and just neglect them all day.

I called the RSPCA on my neighbours dog for neglect. They came and spoke to him but nothing changed. I just kept calling them reporting it everyday until they came and took the dog. I was throwing food over the fence so the thing could eat everyday and when my neighbour saw me once he flipped it and come over to my house with shovel.
I rang them a few weeks later and they told me it had been adopted so fingers crossed for happy ending for the dog.
How anyone can look at how innocent a dog is and neglect it is beyond be, absolute filth of a human.

On a related note.. we have had a vegas trip planned for the past 3 months. I unfortunately had to drop out. Buddies are still going though. A couple weeks back at the steak dinner we asked him what he was going to do about the puppy while he is out of town. He shrugged it off and said friends were watching her. Now I just get a long text from him saying he has exhausted all options. Friends cant and boarding facilities are full. He wants me to watch her.... just lol he has had like 3 months to figure this out and he waits till the last second and now its trying to drop her on me even though he has been ignoring me for 2 days like a bitch.

We were absolutely against this puppy from the beginning because we knew he would be an absolute disaster. Told him we would play no part.
He accepted it and got the puppy anyways. Been an absolute nightmare. Dont know if you know about vizslas, but they are one of the most energetic dog breeds. This puppy runs around at 100 mph at all times. If you let her out of your sight for a second she will poop, pee, chew something up, etc. Cant eat in front of her. Jumps on you. Very poorly trained. I frankly dont have the patience for that right now
