Looking at jobs and besides the usually health insurance WHICH you pay for just lol at that being a BENEFIT as well I CRINGE so hard and LOL every time I see 401k contribution or retirement plan. Do you feel bad for these POOR bastards who get EXCITED over working their whole life just to struggle in retirement.
Poors gonna poor SRS.
Companies barley offer anything besides a SALARY and think you're GOING to be loyal and WAGEcuck your life away for them to MAKE a fortune while YOU entertain yourself with the USUAL wagie activities like DRINKING and LIVING above your means for no other reason but to make yourself feel better about your PATHETIC life.

depends on the match brah
if they match a good amount it's just money on the table, pre-tax. Why would you not want the FREE (not really free because it's part of your overall comp tho) money, unless you were moving countries or something
plus you could also do dat dere backdoor or mega backdoor roth. and triple tax benefit (pre-tax, no cap gains tax, no tax when withdrawing later on) for HSA investments
and that chit grows bro, if you're 29 and retire 65, 36 yrs of growth. let's say you invest it in a total mkt index fund with 12% annual growth, by the rule of 72 that will double your money every 6 years. So within the 36 years, the money you put in the first year is multiplied by ~ 2^6 = 64. So if you put away 19.5k , that will be $1.248 m, and the same as whatever your employer contributed. and similarly for the subsequent years, albeit at a lower multiplier (bc less time in mkt)

Also 6 years is barley getting you a 50% return so that's far from doubling.
Why would you be OKAY with GETTING poverty GAINS on your CAPITAL and getting punished by PAYING fines or WAITING until 60 to TAKE it out TO avoid TAXES do you not SEE the scam THEY'RE pulling to MAKE you a good little wagie FOR literally nothing out of their POCKET.

Depends on the match percent. If you have a decent income it is a large benefit.
Last three years at my normal job they had to kick back the contributions because us "highly compensated employees" vs contributions from the non highly compensated do not meet the test

Lmao. What companies do you work for?
Most Tech companies in ca match 100%. 50% minimum.
It’s literally free money.
As long as your salary and commissions comp is what you’re looking for 401k match is literally free money.
Put some in there. Get some free money. Then go put your other money elsewhere where you may get better returns. It’s not rocket science

Even if they didnt match, just allowing you to save 19.5k a year tax free is a perk. If you're going to work for someone, then just having the ability to save in a 401k is better than not, regardless of the match.
