Why has S. America not developed as well as N. America, both founded by Europeans?

Both the United States and Canada, and all the south American countries as we know them today were founded/colonised by Europeans, but the US and Canada have been way more successful than their southern counterparts (Brazil, Argentina, Ecuador, etc)

Why is this?

Because they were all Spanish colonies and were thus poverty

North America Canada/America were British so they came out pretty good. English law is very good imo, and that was the framework dor the consitution which has helped America thrive.

True, the Spanish and Portuguese bred with the natives from day one, could have diluted their genes. Unlike in North America where it's a much more recent thing

The areas with more European populations tend to be more successful like Uruguay, Chile, Argentina, south Brazil,Costa Rica. Chile is the only country that could be considered 1st world. Cuba could have been much more successful if it wasn't for communism.

The Spanish were in north America first even parts of the USA. Reason why many cities in the USA have Spanish names. I wonder if the Spanish kept Cali, Texas, AZ,NM, Louisiana, Florida what would those areas look like now.

On a side note The Spanish used to make bears fight bulls in Cali I would have loved to have seen that chit
