Well I am an introvert but at the same time I always saw social anxiety/awkwardness as a problem that I wanted to overcome and not a part of my identity. And I’m not proud when I dodge my friends calls and avoid all social contact for a month either...

In my experience most of the people who think “introvert” is some quirky label to add to their identity are girls. Male introverts usually don’t want to be introverts because it holds them back in a lot of ways.

Good on you for working on it. Social stuff is definitely something I want to work on, too.

I'd say I agree that men don't vocally adopt the label, but it seems like there are significantly more shut-in men, and enough men do identify as introverts, even if they don't prepend a hashtag and embroider it on a sweater. I think plenty of men do become complacent and fall into thinking that they're in a stuck situation with how they are socially.

Yeah no ****. It's been common knowledge that introversion =/= social anxiety. Fear of large groups isn't the same as apathy towards large groups. Introverts are more internally-centered and can be content by themselves. The repeated trait that people drain their batteries, is not the same as avoidant personality disorder. Just because asocial people take an online test and claim they are introverted doesn't mean introversion/extroversion is bull****.

Meanwhile extroverts have no inner dialogue and commit suicide if they are forced to stay indoors for long periods of time. The beta ****tard who made his pseudo-intellectual "gotcha" video can take his copied-from-wikipedia wisdom and go **** himself.

Didn’t watch the video, but I say I’m an introvert because hanging out with a lot people can drain me, and I need to be myself or only with close family sometimes to recharge, I have some solo hobbies (music/reading).
It also doesn’t bother me at all to be alone, but obviously I hang out with friends every week.

I always thought ekstrovert/introvert is mostly whether you like to spend time with people ALL the time, or not.

Look into Cognitive Behaviour Therapy (CBT) friend. They have a lot of tools available that will help clarify things as well as help you deal with social anxiety. When we avoid or use safety behaviours it only gives a short term relief but works completely against us long term, its a vicious cycle.
