Rolling this interview while I misc and this bit caught my attention.

The guest, Jamie Wheal, said that humanity is under a lot of stress and that when this happens we regress from humanism to tribalism. Associated video runs from about 1:10 to 1:15, 5 minutes or less.



He references a study that looked at people on the far right and far left/tribalists and the center/humanists in regard to Dark Triad personality traits [narcissism, Machiavellianism, and sociopathy].

They found centrists [live and let live/agree to disagree] didn't score for any of the Dark Triad traits. Extremists [far left and far right] scored off the charts.

So we are now seeing social movements on who are we and what do we do now from both sides being co-opted by narcissists, Machiavellians, and sociopaths. These are the extremists from either side that are shouting the loudest and getting the most attention in the media.

He says that these people can take the nicest most idealistic values and hijack them for bad ends.

"It's not to say that we want beige. We don't want the generic average of in betweens. It's that the extremes on either end are actually on the same team. They are both playing a finite tribal game against the possibility of us all coming together to play the infinite game."
