Some of their tools are just a necessity on the job. That being said I dont buy their basic hand tools.

My main boxes and 90% of my tools are Snap-on. If you use them every day, they're worth it. You won't know until it gets you out of a jam some chit tool won't. If you use them professionally, you will also know which of their tools are rebrands and can shop accordingly.

Their ratchets are GOAT
For a tech on fixed price per job contracts I can see their specialty tools being worth it. For techs on per hour contracts no way.

There are only a handful of tools they do better.
Their airtools are loud junk except the air grinders
The sockets and ratchets are not any better than some Taiwan brands now, my Tekton 90t ratchets are better than my Dual 80s
Their Screwdrivers can be had from Williams with a different handle
A good chunk of their chit is relabeled and marked up
Their wrenches arent really any better than Williams, SK, Wright and other industrial brands
My Pittsburgh impact sockets hold up just as well
Blah blah blah,

Yeah pricey as fuk as is MAC but they are pretty solid. As others have said, the ratchets will last a lifetime.

there's certain things i would maybe spring for if i was a tech with a good tool truck guy, just for the convenience, but yeah some of these kids get hung up immediately coming out of school with tens of thousands of nonsense

Funny coincidence. I’m looking into getting a basic ratchet set for whenever I need them around the house. I just ordered a ton of home gym equipment (squat rack/various machines/etc) and I’ll be ratcheting a ton in the coming weeks
Currently I’m thinking Gearwrench is the brand I’ll go with. Anybody have another recommendation at a similar price point?
