Izchak Herzog elected as israeli president

So for my political misc brahs who follow world politics closely:

What's with this Izchak Herzog guy taking over from Netanyahu?
Is this a good thing, or is he just a puppet of Netanyahu as Putin used to implement as well.

The whole thing went by quite fast I feel like. Should be a pretty big thing to have an eye on.

You're looking at the wrong thing. In Israel the president is just a ceremonial position. Its the prime minister that's the big thing.

The latest news apparently was the coalition to oust Netanyahu included Arabs that put building up the 3% of land 20% of the population lives on as a concession for their support in the coalition & that apparently was a red line for the right wing end of the prospective coalition.

So, Netanyahu might stay in power & another election could be due. But there's still time. Think it was 9pm GMT, the deadline.
