Why do people

Why do people park their money in a savings account that pays next to nothing instead of putting it into an index fund for example?

If your index fund is storing a value of dollars and "paying" you an amount in dollars then it's not increasing value boyo. The savings account can be used to more easily purchase things that aren't getting inflated away.

A savings account pays very little interest, but with no risk of loss. Investing at the peak of the market for a number of goods: gold, silver, bitcoin, stocks in general is hard to get behind knowing that there is a good chance you are investing at the top of a bubble.

not all people
think of investing or reinvesting
or hunting opportunities, for instance
many high earners employees spend it on strippers and booze
thats part of the economical cycle, imagine every guy is reinvesting at the same time
leave them alone man, and think of yourself
