Selling stocks to buy a home (ESPP)
A lot of guys on here have bought a home recently including myself. Anyone do it by enrolling in their company ESPP?
For the past 7 years, $150 has been deducted out of my bi-weekly paycheck to buy shares in my company at a 15% discount. It's nice because you never really see the money. Just recently sold my shares when we purchased our home. This prevented my wife and I from using up our savings or dipping into our 401k for a down payment and closing costs.
It's open enrollment, about to do it again. Probably one of the smartest moves I made was enrolling in that program. So many of my co-workers don't take advantage and only contribute to 401k.
