Did I dun goof by signing up with Planet Fatness?

The nearest real gym to me is a 30 mins drive each way on a 1 lane country road, where I'm usually stuck behind a boomer doing 35.

They also have the most ****gy opening hours imaginable "because covid" where they close at 8, making it impossible to work out late. It's also $45 a month vs $10 for planet pizza

Planet fatness objectively sucks but It's 24 hours and 5 mins from my house so I ended up rage quitting the real gym to sign up there. Plan is to do my squats and deads and leg press etc at home then go to the cuck gym to finish off and do cardio.

My real fear is will I end up like GordonXXX if I train there, building up so much estrogen that I get into ebeefs with other misc boomers?

I have a home gym and a planet fitness membership. Mine is legit, it’s brand new and the equipment is all high dollar stuff.

Obviously no dumbbells over 75 or free barbell. But plenty to get a awesome physique. Just can’t lift like a meat head.

But yeah definitely don’t follow Gordon’s routine..

As a part owner of Anytime Fitness, I do not condone this blasphemy.

The whole "minimizing hours of operation" by busisnesses opening later and closing earlier "because of covid" never made any sense at all. All that did was make it worse by conjesting the hell places. brb let's force everyone who would show up to Walmart/the gym/etc. during late night/morning hours to cram together with the daytime crowds to pack places like sardines instead of keeping them spread out more". Brilliant.

But yeah, at this point in my life, any gym that doesn't have 24/7 access for members is a no go for me. Making time to go to gyms is a big enough pain in the angus as it is. 20 - 40+ minutes driving total both ways for my reasonable options, spending 1hr+ actually working out, 15 min+ changing before and after workout.

My gym is pretty close to me, and it's still a 2 hour total ordeal just to get a reasonable workout in. I laugh at the idea of having to work around main business hours, closing times, and holiday closing days like you get with a lot of places. I need to be able to pop in whenever I can, and whenever I feel like it. The most ridiculous circus thing was when my old gym did the whole "scheduling appointments" circus act. I immediately noped out after that. Imagine scheduling a gym session like it's a damn doctor appointment, lmao

Good to hear! This one is new too, has all precor and life fitness leverage, neither of which are as good as the plate loaded machines but are still better than the chit in most gyms.

For most of my lifts I use slow tempo, pauses and never make any noise anyway so I should be fine

Not to flex but my home gym has a rack, ssb, hammer strength wide chest/iso row and leverage leg press plus dumbbells up to 130 so it's fine for doing the real work, but I'm not buying hamstring curl machines or cardio pieces for it when I can "rent" them for $10 a month

I have to say the tryhard factor was off the charts in the gym last night when I visited. PF seems to have chilled on the wife beater ban because there were a lot of 13" guns on display and an lot of mean mugging happening between sets

Yeah it's even more retarded when they close early without announcing it because there's a storm or some other bull****, they also close at 6pm on the weekends making it even more cancerous if you get there and someone is using the one piece of equipment you need

planet pizza is fine for most lifters. but personally i can't lift there since the fear of the lunk alarm is always there. brb put the weight down too loud, brb breathe too loud, brb brb. When i lift, i lift for max gains and intensity. my focus needs to be on the exercises i'm doing.

but if you just want to get in decent shape, for 10 dollars you can't go wrong.

I asked the dudes behind the counter about the lunk alarm and they said that unless you were really deliberately obnoxious their policy is not to ever use it since it pisses off most of the people trying to exercise in peace

Like screaming or smashing down a weight stack, I'm fine with that. I don't plan to use their 75lb dumbbells for anything so I don't think I'll ever run into an issue where I have to drop anything

Was part of planet fitness in a po-dunk village town when working on an F-plant.

It was fine. Had a tiny weight area in the corner and 50 tread-mills. Basically no one went to the weight area and it was full of fat women eating pizza.

They literally gave out carb-loaded free pizza. I was like - is this a ****ing joke? Worst concept of fitness and diet.

The alarm is real - it sits above the weight area.

It goes off randomly when just talking over there. So, it seemed like somehow it picked up some kind of sound. There was not a bench press, squat rack, or barbell free weights.

They had a crappy half-rack smith machine.

Dumbbells only went up to 75 lbs.

Yeah I've never heard that alarm go off.

But I'm with you. Do the real work in my home gym, and use planet fitness for leg machines, and cardio machines. They also have a good number of lat pull down machines and row machines so that's a plus too. Have never had to wait on a piece of weight equipment there either.

I feel most other miscers have had bad experiences at chithole substandard PF gyms, to be fair this only has the one precor plate loaded leg press but I was the only one using it. There was no foolishness about only loading it with 4 plates a side which I've read some other places do.

This one has a bunch of back pieces too, so I can do chins and heavier rows at home then finish off with some hypertrophy and a slice of pizza and a bagel, I mean cardio
