My biggest mistake with my ex-wife was moving way too fast... with basically everything. 2 1/2 years into our relationship, we were married, had bought 2 cats and 2 dogs together, and lived together for well over a year. Massive mistake on my part to have done all that just assuming she'd remain loyal. Now, 10 years later, I have one cat and one dog remaining from the relationship, as the other two had died right before she bailed.

Pisses me off to this day that I ever let her see/pet our old dog/cat, and my new cat I got for the sake of the oldcel cat who wanted company when I'm gone. I let that happen because I thought it was healthy for our daughter to see me being civil about that chit. It wasn't even fair to animals though. They must have confused the chit out of them to see her again randomly and then have her dissappear on them again like that. Never again.

Spending too much time together too quickly..should have let that stuff happen gradually instead of being excited and wanting to spend every waking second together. Always ends with the girl getting bored.
