Narrowed my bench grip. Getting much stronger...

Was stalled on bench for like a year with a max of 295. Narrowed my grip a few months ago and something clicked and started progressing again. Went 4 sets of 3 @ 300 and then got 315 for 2 on my 5th set today. Lats feel much tighter and get way better pop off the chest. Anybody else prefer a narrower grip? I bought in to the whole wide grip decreases rom for tall people will long arms. Wasn't the right leverage for me. Feels like noob gains all over again

Narrow will do more triceps but will help you get stronger. It’s good to try different grips and techniques. I went the highest when I was doing a lot of decline with my bench

Yeah def more triceps but my chest feels better too. Maybe just positioning. I noticed a lot of the super elite bench pressers don't press with that wide of a grip. Larry wheels and julious Maddox for example.

narrow bench crew checking in . Wide never feels right.

Close grip is less than shoulder width, normal grip is slightly wider than shoulder

As I've progressed, I have been gripping narrower. I feel like I'm less likely I'm going to tear ****. Not sure that made me any stronger though.
