I’ve had a small area just above the shaft waxed before. There’s a reason I stopped after 2 small areas and have never done it again.
Shaving with a safety razor is so much easier and usually painless

Yes. I don't find it that painful. The worst part is actually the big pubic patch. Taint doesn't hurt at all.

Had to shave the whole thing for my vasectomy and liked it. Now I just groom to make it look bigger when I'm hard.
