Mirin anyone who has the freedom to blast out their music/tv as loud as they possibly can.
Not possible where I live at the moment. As soon as this changes will get a big ass Ambilight tv with the soundbar.
The new Heat 4k blu-ray is being released in August. Can just imagine the shootout scene on a great setup.

A soundbar in general is "garbage" but to put a "Dolby Atmos" label on them is a big misnomer. It's all marketing hype.
At least Soundbars are a step up from TV speakers
Really if you're starting out I would suggest Polk Audio's T series speakers with a Denon 540bt AVR.
Polk actually makes excellent budget friendly speakers
If you're truly on a budget then Logitech's Z906 5.1 THX computer speakers will do fine.

As a musician, this is very nice. I can play as loud as I want and record/produce as loud as I want on my speakers. Then again, no one calls the police for any reason really. No one talks to them either.
I think that is why people pay money to go to places where loud music is played, they are not allowed to do it where they live. Soon, I will be in a place like this. I guess it will not be so bad. I have headphones. Maybe I will start to put on shows for this reason.

I do have good quality speakers for day time, but for any complex mixing/mastering you have to go loud otherwise the finished product will sound like ass.
Movies is even worse for noise complaints. Have had to remove the sub and speakers. City life sucks, but will hopefully find a decent detached bungalow to move to soon.

As for mixing and mastering, I don't have the skills/gear for that so would just pay a pro to do it. I am trying to break into being a recording artist from being only a live performer. I live in a city and people play music all the time, I lived in a small city before this and it was the same.
I like to blast my music or play outside and people appreciate it, but soon I will be in an area where people will complain and call the cops if you play music loudly. It is a shame because where I am now it is a vibrant and joyful thing to play music and share it. Maybe people will not mind if I just play an instrument.
I guess it will not be so bad. My core skill is to play blues music, and I end up playing local styles like rock and country or funk and rnb. Soon I will be in an area with many German immigrants so maybe will put together a techno mix and do a show.
In any case, playing blues is my core skill and folk tradition, most of the shows and bands I've played with are an extension of that.

I purchased a Q70T sound bar from samsung and it was only like 300 bucks AUD, it's usually like 500.
If i was gonna go all out like 1500 dollars or how ever much money that real fancy sound bar costs, i'd probably get surround sound system

In my basement/"theater" I replaced a decent 7.1 surround (Yamaha/Polk Audio) with a sonos system (arc, sub, and ones). The sound's not quite as immersive but Dolby Atmos does top to bottom sound really well and the setup is incredibly clean.
If I was building a new house where I could hide the wires in walls and put the speakers wherever I want I'd go back to a more traditional setup.

My mom has a dolby sound bar and it's actually kind of astonishing how a soundbar creates a room full of sound like it does. She has a nose one.
I just recently got a fairly entry level dolby atmos set up with a denon receiver and klipshe speakers. The two fronts are big ****ers with upward firing speakers built in. It's so loud and so clear, what a step up from my old onkyo 5.1 in a box set.
Lol people clowning sound bars. My set up for "entry level" was around 1500 bucks. A soundbar is a great sound for like 1/4 of that.

Soundbars are goat. Only reason you should have huge ugly standalone speakers would be if you have a dedicated theatre room. Just lol at having those huge ugly speakers in a living room.

Misc audio elitists are already itt. Not everyone wants to run speaker wire through their walls, purchase 9 speakers, two of which are ceiling mounted and downward facing, plus 2 subs just so they can feel superior. Soundbars of today are much better than the raggedy ones from 5-6 years ago, they take way less space, and usually match better with a room.
If you’re out purchasing high end audio gear and you don’t have a dedicated theater room then lol at you. Double lol if you don’t cable manage your chit, and triple lol if you drop that money on audio and don’t have a top tier display that’s calibrated professionally.
OP enjoy your soundbar mane, it’s a huge step up from internal speakers and as long as the dimensions in the room are okay the projected atmos effect can be decent.

A soundbar isnt obviously the best when compared to proper surround sound+receiver set up .... But I have a soundbar and honestly to me it sounds pretty damn amazing, it's convenient, easy to assemble and it sounds way better than my regular oled tv speakers.

I picked up the top level Sonos soundbar with 11 speakers, two Sonos surrounds for rears, and two of their new subs. All wireless and easily the best system I've ever owned.
Highly recommend.
The system is matched to an 82" Samsung QLED and, or course, a PS5.
BTW OP, follow Jake Randall on Youtube if you want to secure a console. I've bought 10 of them (handful of PS5s and handful of Series X) so far through his alerts. It's pretty easy.
