Is talking sh*t and roasting your friends OK or is it rude?

Like picking on a person's insecurity or making fun of their appearance like going bald, being poor, etc.

It it OK to point these things out about people in a social setting as a game, or is it a low-class and trashy type game?

It's a bit of a mixed bag for me, because i can't really chill with somebody who is overly sensitive and have to watch everything that i say, but then again i also can see how it's rude to mock somebody..

What are your thoughts on this?

at the same time, some people deserve to receive this kind of treatment, and i would not hesitate to reciprocate chitty behavior to people who engage in it.

basically - if you are kind to me, i'll be kind to you. if you're a dick to me, well i'll be a dick to you too.
I dunno dude sometimes i get into this 'f*ck yo couch *****' mood where i jsut DGAF

Are we talking about ragging on your boys or talking about/down on someone you don't any rapport with?
The closer we approach the uncertainty of life's ending the more we wish to trade all of the things we have acquired in exchange for all of the things we have lost: wealth for youth, knowledge for fresh curiosity, resignation for hope. We'd trade our wisdom for new experiences, but it is wisdom that will teach us that at the end of the road the only new experience is death.

Both really - like even with friends i'd have times when somebody does something or says some shade and it just blasts you in your face like booom - that just hit me.

Like it sort of kills the vibe i guess, IDK socialising can be a bit tricky - guess it just depends on context.

When you’re young, it is a way to sharpen wit, toughen skin, and get brutally honest feedback on what you should improve (if it’s under your control).

Men and women both say things to their friends they don’t really mean. For the men, it’s insults, but for the women, it’s compliments.

yeah agreed, the roasts are only acceptable in a friend only setting, not around women/strangers/etc

Light roasting is fine and should be expected. If you know your boy's feelings get hurt then it should stop completely (srs).

Roasting your boys isn’t bullying. Saying clever chit that’s funny but not hateful is witty and doesn’t make you a POS.

i could say the most hateful and insulting thing to you and say "i'm just joking around". does that make it ok?

you should be supportive of your boys, not poking fun at their insecurities or laughing at their dreams/pursuits. it's possible to give constructive feedback without being a dick.

like if one of your friend's was pursuing some kind of pursuit and you "roasted" them cause they are an idiot and it's not possible for them, would you think that's clever? to me that's being a chitty friend.
Damn, you’ve got some serious baggage.

Mutual roasting is fine especially from people you know/love very well but you don't want to be around people who cannot distinguish the difference

However ridiculing someone and pretending it's "Just messing around" is also not fine and usually some form of establishing an Alpha role in the pack. So it's up to the person receiving to stand up for themselves or they will be walked all over by other people who see it's easy to get away with it.
