Finasteride 'destroyed' his fertility - man's sperm count goes to 0 on the drug

Oh... ****.

Nah, i'm out. **** that **** bros.
https://www.reddit.com/r/maleinferti...a_finasteride/

My husband (33y) and I (34y) had been trying for about 1.5 years and he recentlygot his first semen analysis results back which detected 0 sperm. He saw a urologist who said his physical exam looked normal so they he did bloodwork, which came back with 376 testosterone, 9.2 FSH and 2.2 LH. The urologist was originally suspecting obstructive azoospermia but said since the FSH is a tad high he is now thinking it may be non-obstructive. Also, he said range for testosterone is 300-1000 so my husband is at the lower end of the normal range.

All that said, my husband has been on propecia /finasteride for 10-12 years and from researching it looks like it can definitely affect sperm counts. Research shows the sperm counts can improve after stopping the drug but not 100% of the time. It can take awhile to improve too...seems like anywhere from 3-12+ months. In those studies the men were on it for a lot less than 10 years though.

He stopped taking the medicine a week before the semen analysis. We are waiting another 3 months before he does another one. This next one will be through a reproductive endocrinologist. Hopefully the endocrinologist can help figure out if there are any other issues with hormones.

Anyways, my question is has anyone else experienced azoospermia after taking propecia / finasteride and what was the outcome?

Thanks!

So you're saying I can get a vasectomy without having to have surgery and keep my hair! Wow why didn't I get on Fin sooner.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

"Reddit"
"researching it looks like it can definitely affect sperm counts."
"We are waiting another 3 months before he does another one."

You come on here posting about a redditor dating a low-T cuck, who googled finny sperm count, and hasn't even come back with another set of results?

Can you just stay on Reddit?

Lol I’m on trt and run hcg along with it to keep my balls from atrophying/shrinking. plus I had my sperm frozen just in case.

testosterone was 450 at age 31 and this doctor put me on trt lol. he literally said β€œYeaaa let’s try and raise those numbers a bit.” 3 months later my blood test had my total testosterone at 1750. Evidently, I’m a β€œhyper-responder” on only 90mg a week.

Will never ever touch that propecia sh!t even though I had a transplant and they tried forcing that sh!t on me. Rather get another transplant 5-10 years later.

Hell yeah, like millions of others

No-one is telling you to take it, but posting reddit links with circumstantial at best evidence is getting pretty annoying.

If you have actual studies or personal experience, I'm all ears. But miss me with that reddit bs

I just kind of assume most juiced up ****s have have the same condition without them knowing it

One can get it without any specific or known cause too, so theres that. When exposed to toxins, the reproductive system is often the first one to go. Natures way of limiting the damage and not bringing it to offspring

That being said it can be reversed too

Source on toxin thing? Sounds retarded, why would natural selection put up barriers to fertility?

Google it, plenty of sources of how chit environment/foods/substances lowers fertility/sperm count. My source was gf who does a PhD in biology.

Nature probably puts barriers to fertility because its better to just end a bad offspring as soon as possible, instead of wasting an entire year of your fertile life (especially for females) which ends too faulty, can't survive, or can't produce an offspring for itself.

Creating another life is a pretty huge deal, and there are about a gazzilion things that need to go right the entire way in order to produce a healthy offspring. Even after getting pregnant, about 10-30% of pregnancies result in miscarriage because of something going wrong, which is why people wait a long time before announcing their pregnancy.

I can't be bothered to google it, it's your assertion, I'm questioning it with a logical argument.

Yes, it makes sense for women for sure, but not for men. There's a reason women produce 1 egg and men produce half a billion sperm per cell. One is quality, the other is quantity.

Yeah if its due to techinig. Estrogen inhibitors, FSH, hMG can help too. Best bet it just to see a doc, be truthful and get it right. No need to dwell or tinker on your own

Otherwise:
1. Avoid heated/warm groin. Even hot showers (and baths) can lower sperm count
2. Remove toxins and chit stuff from your life (like strong chemicals and mold around you)
3. Eat healthy diet (more veggies and chit, less sugars, artificial sugars etc)
4. Exercise
5. Fasting and NAC supplement can also improve it
6. Male sperm is at its peak 3 days after last ejaculation (if i recall correct)
7. Get fresh air. Haven't seen studies on this but it just seem intuitive

All those can accumulate to better quality jizz. Overall the healthier you are the better it will be

Male infertility is just as big of an issue as female infertility brah. Males account for half of the cases in pregnancy issues. Most assume its a female problem, but thats just because females are 100x more vary and vocal of it than men.

In the end its just one sperm that impregnates. Offspring gets 50% of the DNA from each parent, and the quality of the single sperm that makes the entire way over matter just as much as the egg.

Good actual sci knowledge from DSTEE ITT.

I don't recommend people use Finasteride but you can't take online stuff seriously like that.

Also, the env has a lot of stuff that ruins our bodies, we should care about that regardless of MPB/finasteride etc.

lmao misc morons (MM) are dumb as sh*t. Your test will be higher on finasteride since less of it is converted to DHT.

This dude has some other issues going on with him. Many people who take finasteride have conceived fine (after stopping it for a bit since it can be harmful to the fetus/woman).
