We done goofed with the remote working chit. Outsourcing coming in hot

Tried to attach an the image, but just saw an email come through my work email from a company that reads:

"Outsourcing can be costlier

Offshore remote employees are not!

Switch to an EaaS1 model with digitalExperts

Hire Offshore remote employees!

Increase your business agility

Not your budget!"

How long until we all replaced by emerging market overlords working for less?

Not an issue if you actually have marketable skills and are not just coasting on nepotism and favors.

I've gotten competitive pay working for companies in European countries as an American. It goes both ways.

I've been doing remote work for years, it just means that you have to compete on a global scale.

I mean the email was focusing on very marketable and technical skills like IT and engineering. It doesnt matter when you can pay someone way less

I would never outsource my employees, much less to another country.
RIght now the trend is people working remotely though, its happening more and more. It wont take long until these companies see the opportunity for remote workers overseas, whats the difference?

Not everyone is on the same level. I would have no issue paying according to merit and my company's budget.

You get what you pay for. I'm not in the "inside" area where people are losing their jobs to outsourcing.

I'm on the outside, I've provided my skills internationally to companies that could have hired domestic.

It kind of levels the playing field, your pay is based on your skills no matter where you are in the world.

As someone who does not rely on family connections, university connections, or anything like that to get a job, this is good news.

It won't eliminate nepotism, but it creates a lot of jobs and reduces costs as a business owner.

Also, this is an advertisement. That image is trying to sell a service, it's more a sales pitch than a sign of the times.

The people working remotely from India has been an issue for employers for a long time. ****** and Shreya are hard to work with. Very poor listeners. They have very poor soft skills and are mediocre tech wise. My last job was 100% remote and not one outsourced job from India was included. Many employers are learning that it actually costs more to develop outsourcing to India than it does using native English speaking North American born individuals. The first time I had a boss complain about this was in about 1998... and it hasn't stopped. In about 2012 I had a boss that told the recruiters not to present any candidates or solutions outsourcing to India.

They're already moving away from their money generators is the point. If you already have a remote workforce anyway, they will go ahead and save money in the process

Outsourcing for skilled jobs, especially foreigners in chit-tier countries, is a huge gamble and one that rarely pays off.

Just ask Boeing who lost billions trying to shave pennies by outsourcing critical flight software to an Indian sweatshop.

Or ask I B M about the $1.2 billion they lost in one single project and are no longer allowed to contract for the Australian government.

Outsourcing for unskilled jobs already happened 10 years ago.

This WFH stuff isn't changing anything brah.

The difference now though is that a ton of workers are remote anyway. Before the comparison was someone working in the office or working overseas remote.

Now the comparison is someone working remote either way and just paying them less. I think a lot of companies will do this more

They definitely haven't. Because they believed having people in the office mattered. But if people are working remote anyway, they absolutely will go for it now since what's the difference.

I guess so but I read somewhere that research shows people in the US put in a lot more hours doing remote work but the overall quality of work fell down.

eh ...

some employers also may want the flexibility of somebody being able to come in a few times a month for various reasons. harder to build employee morale and chemistry if everybody is just working from a remote location, although it can save costs.

rajeev from jaipur probably isn't replacing your 100K engineering job any time soon from a remote location, just lol. only if your job doesn't provide value-added to the company besides stuff that is easily automated and routine. There's always a downside to it. It could also hurt company reputation if the company you work for is a public company. BRB vision statement is broadly states to improve communities in which the company resides in, BRB hiring a bunch of remote people from Pakistan. Trying to cheap out and cut costs "at all costs" can kinda backfire.

also look at it this way. you would in theory also have be able to work remote from somewhere as well.

A lot of these tech companies are heavily overvalued, I think you goofed if you bet your life on a hot economic trend.

That's not to say that these jobs will all simply disappear, but a ton of SV companies just pull down rounds of VC capital and operate on promises and inflated stock prices.

Think about it, how many people got into tech and the SV dynamic just because it was a hot trend? How many people have based their entire lives around obtaining a large tech salary? Where do you think this money comes from? It comes from banks and wealthy capitalists seeking to make large returns on the latest big thing in industry.

This. Plus even domestic labor is cheap relative to the revenue most of these corps are pulling from it. They will throw some extra slop in the trough to avoid service interruptions and revenue loss. They (the owners, directors, and top MGMT) are already keeping all of the profit anyhow

There are it and engineering jobs outside of start up tech culture bro. And they all pay better than most other work

In the long run, if you have a planet full of smart people all competing for the same WFH jobs, the wages for those WFH jobs will go down. Supply and demand is the most fundamental economic law around.

I work for an engineering firm making chips that you are probably using to misc right now. It was built by 90% H1-B ****** in the stateside office and probably about an equal number of offshore ****** Under my current director, there are 3 US born engineers out of about 50 reports.

My employer doesn't even buy those guys because they're cheap (although the $25K Bangalore salaries don't hurt). It's because they have skill sets that America doesn't even offer any more. Most of them have graduate degrees in hardware engineering that the company needs. Fukking no white boy is going to go for a masters or PhD in hardware engineering, but ****** will.

I know there's a lot of Indians running around slapping chitcode together on Fiverr for like $15, but there are a layer of Indian engineers that are very talented and very cheap. When you have 1B people, you've just got a lot of everyone. Anyway, those are the guys WFH brahs need to look out for.
