Popular forms of entertain you consider overrated
Movies/TV shows - I can enjoy them at times, but I can't get into them the way some people do. Like people who watch half a dozen or more movies a week and/or spend hours watching TV every day.
Sports - I just can't take them that seriously. It's good entertainment at times, but I can't grasp how some dudes will sit around obsessing over them on a daily basis. And nothing bores me quite like listening to sports commentary shows...
Video games - I play some of my old school stuff once in a rare while, but get bored with them within a couple hours and am done again for awhile. New games mostly look like they suck. It's quite the expensive hobby for something that has virtually zero potential to ever yield anything of substance IRL. Same concept as tv shows/movies, really.

Fiction and "light" non-fiction books. I'm talking about the non-fiction books where the author goes on a book tour to sell it. Stuff like the 4-Hour Work Week, 48 Laws of Power, etc. They all follow a similar outline and pump up the word count with pointless anecdotes. In reality the book could fit on a couple of pages.
My reading level is higher than 8th grade, so that rules out fiction.

Live sports, like attending in person. Often the cost is WAY too high, especially for things like regular season games. Would rather watch on TV anyway because you see more.

I like the idea of sports but it's just too much time investment. It's like a part time job. It's fun to watch with friends during playoffs, socially, but I'd never follow too much. Was funner playing them as a kid, or pickup games as a teenager, than watching them. (Or going to see it live, but that's too expensive, really.)
Newer social media platforms. It's just insufferable. Snapchat, TikTok. These *******s lip-syncing or tilting their heads or twerking or acting out scenes. It's strange to me how trendy it is to behave in a way you shouldn't want being publicized. IE, people who used to dance and sing along to music in their rooms getting "busted" would be rightfully embarrassed due to their lack of musical talent. Now it's some sort of subgenre of entertainment. Very strange.
Improv comedy. Seems like a cult, and the end result isn't even funny, just uncomfortable and awkward.
Internet culture / memes / "****posting". Just the general hive-mind mentality of internet users who cling to every trend. All this snark, all this irony. It's just annoying and bratty behavior that should be left behind at 17 years old, only now Gen Z are carrying the same attitude into adulthood.

Some of these tickets are going for $400+. I can legit get an hour long blowie from a prime escort for that.
Imagine paying hundreds of dollars for the privilege of paying $15 for a beer, smelling the BO of overweight strangers, just to watch grown men throw a ball around.

When you think about it, much of popular entertainment works in the same way as organized religion. The archetype of a typical American worship service, pastor, church community, and many other things are reflected in popular culture.
Whether it's a big concert, a movie, a self-help book, sports event, or even a big tv finale premier.

Definitely the beach for me. Prefer the mountains. Most views at the beach are pretty much the same and you just lay around and get sweaty.
Video Games and Sports are an odd one for me. I use to be obsessed with doing/watching both and have little to no desire to partake anymore. Which I can't explain

Video games for sure. Always felt like it was a waste of time but I get it for people who have more spare time to kill.
Live action sports. I love sports but I cringe at the idea of paying expensive prices to watch a game.

I agree with you for the most part. It’s important to have watched some movies in your life, but they’re just not something I want to sit around and waste hours watching.
For me, sports is the same. I like to watch soccer and some highlights, but actually following it, is a no from me. Unless I’m playing it ofc.

Last TV show I tried to watch was Outlander on Netflix. It was pretty good the first season, the very long and explicit male-male rape/torture scenes in a couple episodes were fantastic, but from there the show got boring.

Movies/TV Shows- I tend to be a hipster when it come to movies...movies are so terrible these days I don't even bother with Hollywood anymore. I love finding "hidden gems" though through Imdb. Movies i'd recommend that don't get much recognition or were forgotten about or some ppl have never seen are True Romance, Strange Days, A Perfect Getaway, Dark City, etc etc I watched These Final Hours during covid lockdown last yr. Fantastic Aussie movie
Sports- Grew up playing hockey, and soccer so I love watching it nothing is better in sports than the Stanley Cup Finals, and World Cup/Euros, but I understand how some people can find soccer boring...I get it it's true I've been bored before watching a soccer game it can get too tactical, and fouls galore, but hockey how the fuk can you not love hockey.
Video Games- Well I'm not huge into video games really I just play FIFA and Co Op with my friends I've known since high school it's lots of fun. Video games is probably the one I'd consider overrated in the list. I can get bored easily.
