I know a lot of girls that would love to be a housewife. This assumes they could find a guy making a lot of money to afford such a lifestyle though.

You probably looking at the wrong women, trying to find a wife outside a traditional scenery and expecting different results. A lot of minorities and women outside the US like the SAHW/SAHM life. You also have to make sure your partner is in the same boat as you while yall are dating/serious relationship. Also being a sahm is seriously isolating and a lot of work, many woman don't like to budget or being told no when they want to get a certain thing, so they gotta get their own money. And nowadays being a stay at home is look down on by most other women. Can't tell you the many times I've been looked down on or criticized for not working and living off my husband when it was a mutual choice to raise our kid traditionally.

They don't. They're just too dumb to understand they're only good for raising children and whine about things like losers pretending to be celebrity athletes or whatever with no realistic understanding of being one.

In many parts of the world, women want spend more time with their kids if they can. It's not only expected but appreciated.

There are a lot of women like this in America as well, they actually look down on moms who work as neglecting their kids. They see raising your kids as very important work.

Personally, I am not against the idea of a woman having a career if she wants to, not all women do.

I am not really interested in the idea of owning a woman as an illiterate slave like in the old days.

Guess I'm just not the slave owning kind of person.

I don't know if I'd consider a stay at home mom a lot of work but I guess it depends on the situation. If the dude can afford to the wife to stay home he should also be able to afford childcare for nights out. It doesn't have to be a terrible isolating existence.

The alternative is working while sending your kid to daycare and still having to take care of him/her when you get home.

So what's more work? working an actual job and still taking care of a kid or staying home and doing it?

As atomicbbgum mentioned a lot of women look down on stay at home moms and believe it's a disservice to the women that fought in the women's suffrage and feminist movements.

That's kind of crazy because I would think having the choice is what's important.

In Germany they call moms who work "raven moms" who neglect their kids.

Then again not all women want to have kids.

I can understand the value of having a choice as well as respecting the choice to raise a family.

Where I'm from it's the opposite.

Then again I come from a place that is more traditional so that makes sense.

Don't get me wrong, i love being a sahm, I get to raise my son, see him grow and teach him the way we want him to learn, also home schooled him until he is ready for kinder (which is this year) and childcare is so retarded expensive that if I were to work solely be to pay for childcare. We also live in the deep country which adds to the isolating part. Most of the day is him and me and pets, doing chores, exploring the backyard and playing around, some family comes to see us but is not like I can see my friends, since they all work. Anyways, dear diary. That could be part of why there aren't many sahm or wife's, if you ever wanna know the perspective of it peep on mom groups about it, is not an isolating story, most women deal with the same problem since being home means the kid is also home which means the chores are never ending, because kids wil be kids.

Mind blown why would anyone willingly want to join the rat race, srs. I mean, with men is more understood since men know from the beginning that nobody is gonna bail them out and if they don’t work they gonna be homeless, also we have the Instinct of being providers

But women? Lol I swear modern feminism Is one of the biggest scams in history
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

That whole movement is now redundant in every first world country. If they saw what women are using as leverage now that would be the true disservice.

That's why we have an increase of older career women who are so jaded and stressed out.

You shouldn't be forced into a role, but if one works for you then you shouldn't be derided when you choose it. Being a stay-at-home Mum is in no way a role of ridicule or shame. Back when women were forced to be a certain way their goal was to have options for those who had equal ability. That message has been long lost now.

Breaking down family structures and time-tested roles to have an orgy of disorder under the front of moral movements is surely going well.

Oh I dunno

It’s repetitive, basic skills that any adult should have. And there’s no need cos mod cons take the time out of it, so a lot of time you’re hanging out with people

there no external face to it, you basically don’t exist in society just inside the house

And it’s a role that is invisible and quickly taken for granted, it’s fairly menial and easy to outsource

It doesn’t add anything to the economy or affect anyone but the people in the household

Gives no points for conversation or development, makes you dull. What ya gonna talk about what you cleaned, ironed or bought

No challenge, excitement, appreciation, development or value

Ignoring hobbies (which miscers says women don’t have), voluntary work and children of course

Fun for a bit but not a life

The best thing about this life is the female community you become part of. I don’t know if it’s the same where you are but there was this undercurrent community that just sprung up out of seeming nowhere when I had babies and young kids.

The best types of supportive, learning together community. You can see the appeal at this stage, but once your last child is at school that community starts to fragment. people start to move away and go back to work because there’s no reason to be in the house from 8 till 3 apart from housework

Women have wholly different life phases IME

idk I pay child support/help pay for my three step kids, and still end up the bread winner.

Though you do have a good point, why work just to pay for day care. It’s probably much better to have the child raised by their mother.

What I do not understand why we pay child support to have their mother pay a baby sitter to watch them while she goes out when we would watch the kids for free happily

Useless, low value, shallow women “look down” on being a housewife because they know they could never fulfill the role. A true housewife maintains the home, does the laundry, cooks meals and creates an atmosphere of love and comfort to her husband. Useless ho’s that only care about social media hate the true role of a housewife because they are worthless cum dumpsters, devoid of any meaningful relationship and trying their best to cope with it.

A better phrasing would be why do western women look down on being a housewife? The answer is they’ve been poisoned by the media and Nth wave feminism promoting being a whore over being a person worth respecting.

If women just quit the labor force en masse and become real women again, wages would increase and make raising a family on a single income feasible again
