Supreme Court rules against NCAA - Athletes finally gunna get paid

In a concurring opinion, Justice Brett Kavanaugh said the NCAA is essentially acting "above the law" in how it treats athletes. "Nowhere else in America can businesses get away with agreeing not to pay their workers a fair market rate on the theory that their product is defined by not paying their workers a fair market rate," Kavanaugh wrote. "And under ordinary principles of antitrust law, it is not evident why college sports should be any different. The NCAA is not above the law."

Good, I dont see why this even had to go to court. If players are good enough that they can bring a college millions of dollars through merchandise and ticket purchases then its only fair that they can get some of it.

This is the right decision but I'm against it for purely selfish reasons. College sports is gonna suck balls to watch now. The lack of parity is bad enough as it is and this will make it a million times worse.

I just finished reading the article, and the ruling is pretty limited in scope. D1 athletes aren't going to be driving Lambo's anytime soon, but at least they won't have to eat Ramen.

Some of these college athletes are in for a rude awakening when they find out nobody wants to pay the point guard from Iowa to sign some autographs.

This will benefit the QB’s and star players, but other than that….

The "Right" d1 athletes were already driving Range rovers and had other great "gifts" due to "family loans".

We'll see. I think this will have a tremendous impact.

Hopefully this is the beginning of removing sports from college and having their own semi-pro leagues, similar to how the UK does it.

College should be for learning, not sportsball. I say this as a former college athlete that did quite well so it isn't from an angry or jealous standpoint.

Supreme court has recently been ruling out many unanimous rulings, as a response to Democrats' accusations that they're too ideologically split.

LMAO as if any athletes were eating ramen. You must have never been to a D1 school before. All the athletes are already getting so much free crap as payment. It’s not like they’re taking out loans on those mopeds.
Not sure how they’ll justify giving the athletes full-ride scholarships and acceptance to schools they shouldn’t be at academically if they’re going to also have to pay them

These schools are running a business, manipulating the system the best they can just like any other business. The staff and coaches get paid, pay the players a % also or gtfo.

A few students are going to miss out that are actually taking advantage of their athletic gift and milking everything they can out of the school for education and other 'payments', but the vast majority of those that shouldn't even be in the schools they are will have to find another route. Not like they are getting an actual education anyway, they are only there for the system and making money for the schools.
