Why does no one talk about the actual biggest problem with modern society?

White supremacists are the biggest threat to our nation. Time to lock down again because covid cases have spiked 5%, gotta save grandma. How many black people are killed by police officers a year?

Meanwhile, I walk past a pool the other day, obese fks with green hair and some pudgy 7 year old girl standing at the side of the pool with a giant box of Cheez-Its in hand.
On average, one out of every three adults is obese, which is about 36% of the population. (Harvard, 2020)
The age-adjusted prevalence of obesity in adults from 2017-18 was 42.4%. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2020)
By 2030, an estimated 20% of the world’s population will be obese. (National Center for Biotechnology Information, 2016)
About 18.5% of children ages 2 to 19 are considered obese in the United States. (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, 2019)
That's obesity btw, not even being overweight.
Among the US population overall, crude estimates for 2018 were: 34.2 million people of all ages—or 10.5% of the US population—had diabetes. 34.1 million adults aged 18 years or older—or 13.0% of all US adults—had diabetes.
One person dies every 36 seconds in the United States from cardiovascular disease.
About 655,000 Americans die from heart disease each year—that’s 1 in every 4 deaths.

High blood pressure, high blood cholesterol, and smoking are key risk factors for heart disease.

Several other medical conditions and lifestyle choices can also put people at a higher risk for heart disease, including:

Diabetes
Overweight and obesity
Unhealthy diet
Physical inactivity
Excessive alcohol use
In fact, let's look at what is killing people:
Heart disease: 659,041
Cancer: 599,601

Accidents (unintentional injuries): 173,040
Chronic lower respiratory diseases: 156,979
Stroke (cerebrovascular diseases): 150,005

Alzheimer’s disease: 121,499
Diabetes: 87,647
Nephritis, nephrotic syndrome, and nephrosis: 51,565
All of these have a huge diet/lifestyle component, though cancer is arguable outside of things like lung cancer. Without looking into it more, the neph- related deaths are likely complications related to long-term diabetes + poor diet + hypertension leading to kidney failure/dialysis since I imagine primary renal disease and chit like lupus isn't killing all that many people.

Brb, fat fkin country full of lazy fks making their children fat, eating themselves into the grave, average male can't bench more than 135 (last time I looked into this was like 10 years ago, assume it's worse now), no one exercises or does anything anymore. Think of the heckin grandmarinos though. Covid wouldn't have done anything to this country if half of our population wasn't a sneeze in the face away from their entire body shutting down.

If anyone actually gave a chit about our health instead of virtue signaling and blindly following what other people tell them, they would focus on health initiatives and maybe taking a jog themselves every once in a while. Amazing what just a simple walk through the streets in the sunlight does for your mental health. Was there a single mention from any politician/Department of Health/anyone to ever start exercising and trying to eat healthy? Of focusing on your health, taking multivitamins and fish oil, doing a certain amount of cardiovascular exercise to help keep your immune system strong? I've been sick maybe two times in my entire life for less than a day, and have gone to the gym since I was 15.

But nah, let's make some more anti-racist commercials instead.

Dude most of us here are different and that is why we joined a bodybuilding site in the first place. You have to hit rock bottom to passionately want to change weight and control eating, and most regular people will not do that. People are so divided now that we can't even agree on common sense things during a freaking pandemic; do you really think that they can agree to lose weight, hell no!?

Even the little kids that I see are fat now.
There is an unspoken thing, we are iron brothers and sisters, we are to support each other and...It is our duty to support our brothers and sisters in the iron game!

The weaker people get the easier it is surpass and dominate them.

I’m torn, because on one hand I want my fellow man to succeed, be productive, and to live a happy life.

On the other, by them being weak it makes for less competition for me, and my life is easier without much effort.

You'd think it would get a ton of press because the demographics provide such a great opportunity for all the very smartest people to explain why fat is racist. There's a whole building at every university just waiting to be dedicated to this exciting new field of study.

If you want to break it down further, the biggest problem is tolerance and nobody wanting to offend anyone.

Fat people should be called fat and unhealthy. They should be called out when they buy fast food, especially when they feed it to their kids and not celebrated for being "happy how I am." Doctors should call overweight patients fatasses and tell them they need to lose weight. Meanwhile, if you actually tell someone they are obese and unhealthy you're labelled as a jerk or god forbid a misogynist (if it's a female) for telling the truth. If your young child has diabetes at the age of 10 because you feed them crap they should be taken away.

Being overweight needs to be as stigmatized as smoking became. It needs to be uncomfortable and exposed. Not accepted.

obesity is racist.

if one can be trans-sexual and trans-racial, heavier people can now be trans-gravity and identify as a lighter person.

if you do not accept this then you're a toxic white bigot nazi that needs to check xir privilege.

We live in a capitalistic nation. We need food to survive. Companies that make food want to make money. Companies that make food that want to make money make good tasting foods for people that need to survive. Companies that make foods that want to make money make good tasting and addicting foods that are cheap for people that need to survive.

Also, nutrition and physical education is declining rapidly in schools. I wonder what kids are doing today compared to:

Obesity is racist

Non-Hispanic Black adults (49.6%) had the highest age-adjusted prevalence of obesity, followed by Hispanic adults (44.8%), non-Hispanic White adults (42.2%) and non-Hispanic Asian adults (17.4%).

Out of hundreds of patients hospitalized with it, I saw a single otherwise-healthy male in his 30s with no medical history that was fairly sick and intubated though I think he did live---and people theorized that he was actually a drug addict since he had some weird withdrawal effects in the hospital. On the other hand, a relatively healthy nurse in her late 20s got it and it laid her low for a month or so with continued stamina problems for a long time afterwards, but she never required hospitalization or anything close to it.

COVID did kill people, quite a few people, and a lot of them were extremely sick. It was not a hoax, but the reason it was such an issue is because we are such a pathetically unhealthy nation. ICUs were already often loaded with respiratory disease patients such as pneumonias/flus in the winter before COVID was a thing. Having a more infectious respiratory virus was always going to kill a lot of people, and a lot of the measures attempted were an attempted bandaid solution that did not work. At the core of healthiness is prevention in the first place. But nowadays we can't even tell people to lose weight.

when they started supersizing every ****ing deadly snacks it was over for the kids. if I recall this was around the late 80's. 7-11 stores had the super big gulps ready for us

also around this time more kids Flooded the elementary schools and the playgrounds got smaller from adding bungalows for extra class rooms, plus they shorten Recess time because kids were falling behind in learning - as a kid I would spend all day outside burning all that energy from junk food. I had a sweet childhood

Hard to say. The amount of obesity in hospitals is staggering in the first place. Anyone who thinks there isn't a correlation with it and poor health is delusional. Out of the thousands of patients I've had in 5+ years, less than a handful were guys that look like they workout, and they were often unlucky cancer patients.

Hard to quantify a number since almost every patient is at least overweight. It was essentially 90% 200+ pound people, a couple skinny drug addicts, and little old ladies in their 80s that weigh 100 pounds. There were also some cancer patients that looked otherwise healthy but you're screwed without your immune system. Of the people who were sick enough to be chemically paralyzed and proned (laid on their stomach instead of their back) which is about as sick as it gets with a respiratory disease, almost every single one of them was 200-250 pounds plus. I know this because you have to have about five people flip these motherfckers over while making sure you aren't breaking their shoulders/snapping their neck/breaking your own back. These people almost always died, and had a list of comorbidities like diabetes, heart disease, COPD, etc. that took a minute to read out.

Yep.

They actually cooked dinners, so it wasn't like I was eating fast food all the time, but we did have snacks and I had no self control. I thought because I would be outside a lot, it didn't matter. I had no conception of calories or activity level really. And they didnt teach that in health class

Heart disease killed 17 million last year, Covid killed 2m.

Not all heart disease is preventable but 80% is.

And childhood obesity should be considered child abuse/child neglect. We are our children's first teachers.

Its clown world OP. Two gay people fuking and adopting babies is completely fine, but a 30 year old guy going out with an 18 year old girl is p3dophilia and shamed.

These people arent authentic. Their agenda isnt actually to better society. They couldnt give a ****, most people are selfish as fuk. You cant convince them of nothing or teach them nothing because they dont give a ****. They have shaped the world and reality to fit what they want or need it to be.

Best thing to do is to surrounder yourself with people that actually know whats going on, what the truth is, or that at least are open minded or are willing to have their minds changed with proper arguments and information. You wont ever convince a green haired fat bitch to change her mind about a single thing.
"The flowers bloom, then wither... The stars shine and one day become extinct. This earth, the sun, the galaxies and even the big universe, someday will be destroyed. Compared with that, the human life is only a blink, just a little time. In that short time - people are born, laugh, cry, fight, are injured, feel joy, sadness, hate someone, love someone. All in just a moment. And then, are embraced by the eternal sleep called death."

If you pay attention to their arguments, they are generally just repeats of what they have already been told by people who are able to write somewhat convincing rhetoric in a way that makes them seem educated. If you are able to phrase things properly and guide people's attention in a way they go down the path you want without thinking critically, you can convince a lot of people whatever you want. Leads to a lot of cognitive dissonance and beliefs that make no sense when put together, like being for defunding the police and disarming the population at the same time because those are current leftist talking points. Never mind the fact criminals will not give away their guns and you can just make one with a 3D printer, we're going to make people stop being criminals by hiring more social workers to go out into the hood to answer domestic disputes. Boo hoo, your life is so hard, what a clown world.
Delusional nonsense. Sure, life is easier than ever if you do it right, but to claim there are no major societal problems is just some top-tier cope. I never complained about my own life once rofl.
