Gym Etiquette

Using two machines at a time while gym is half full?

Some manlet was using a lat pull down machine and the preacher curl machine (alternating sets)

I got done mogging the shoulder press and just started using the curl machine. Manlet asks if he can work in with me, I say no. He says I was here first. I replied using two machines is unacceptable. He says that’s my opinion and walks off.

What’s your opinion?

Gym etiquette is knowing that when a female has headphones on, it means she's just sh/t testing you, it's a frame battle. You gotta prove that you're an assertive alpha male by approaching her and running day game. And the best way to run day game at the gym is to insist on helping her form by gently caressing her legs to make sure she maintains proper posture.

Then you gotta close the deal by parlaying the convo towards getting her back to your place.

It's all about the mindset, boyos....

He’s a dick for using both, yes. You’re a dick, too. But you may be scared of “covid” so it’s understandable.

Most people wait for the machine to be available, especially these days.

You’re both dicks.

Well, since there is a height difference and you have to keep adjusting the seat, probably not a good idea.

I mean if he was actively supersetting that’s fine there’s nothing wrong with that IMO. If he started using 3 or 4 different machines or was just hogging it and not working out that’s bad etiquette.

Edit just read the entire OP and you seem really immature. If you want to talk about gym etiquette look at yourself first lmao.

First of all. Good gym etiquette would be you asking him if YOU can work in with him. You knew he was using the machine. Lets assume this guy is doing super sets on two machines. What's the difference if he does that or if he does a set then sits on a machine texting for 1-2 minutes?

Realistically, you should be resting at least 60 seconds between sets. If someone is using 8-12 rep ranges they'll most likely finish in 25-35 seconds. Giving you around 30 seconds to switch the weight and get set.

Why not let him work in with you? Are you afraid of covid? Or of getting mogged by someone using more weight for more reps?

I use multiple machines sometimes when they're available. If someone takes over the machine without realizing I was using it, I just use it later or hit the muscles in a different way.

If you knew he was using the machine, then you should have asked to work in anyways. I'd rather have someone super setting than sitting around on a machine for 5-10 min, which I see all the time.

If you can pull the rod out of the weights, I do that to let people know I'm done.

This happened to me this week.
A dude was using 2 machines for over 25 min so i did other exercises until i could not wait any longer.
I walked over and politely asked him how many more sets, and he replied 1 more and offered to help me remove things.
I declined, did my sets in 5 min and put the weights back.

Not fine. Supersetting lat pulldowns with biceps is stupid.
