159 people still missing in Miami building rubble

Any chance they’re alive?

Would of thought it would be possible to move that crap faster but I guess not

My guess is a few are tapped but they will be starving or thirst to death before they’re reached at the rate they’re going

Was recently updated on CBS news. They said specifically that rescuers haven't found anyone alive.

So I think they must have found some bodies, but the remains haven't been identified yet?

They also said there was an engineering report done in 2018 that found serious structural issues with the parking garage and building which the condo association had just begun to get repaired.

I have to wonder if something that was changed or shifted in the repair process was the point of failure, like pulling out a block in a game of Jenga.

Very unlikely. There’s a tiny chance there’s someone alive in a void space, but the chance of survival in a pancake collapse is pretty low.

One of the reasons they’re not able to move stuff faster is because it’s unstable. They have to shore up potential collapses so they don’t get wrecked themselves.

Very little chance of survivors, especially as you get deeper.

It's definitely a pain in the ass because moving heavy debris around reinforces the odds that a cave in will happen and kill survivors/rescuers.

You think Florida would be a little more responsible with their inspections knowing the whole state is a swamp, atop of limestone which erodes over time. Didnt they have a walkway just crash over a highway killing people too? But then again it is florida.

The buidling was undergoing it's 40 year inspection at the time. Would have been every ten year after that if it had passed, but now the whole building will probably be demolished after the investigation and search efforts are over.
