Why is reddit so Soy?

It really is bad. No joke was on a fitness sub today and someone was asking for an honest assessment of their fitness level with run times like 20 minutes for a 3k (****ing lol - that's a 10 minute pace!!!). I in much kinder terms basically said there is a lot of room for improvement. Didnt even say it in a mean way, just was being transparent.

Was downvoted to hell with the rest of the sub saying stuff like "anyone who works out is healthy in my book" and "dude, there is more to someones health than running pace".



Just a snippet but very representative of the attitude that permeates that website.

If you want a deeper understanding of the role of neoliberalism, then look at how it historically has taken form in the universities of Latin America. A liberal university student and professor in Chile is enjoying a comfortable life, listening to hip music, and going to fun Coca Cola sponsored corporate events. They will get a nice office job at their headquarters, and they will never be on the other side of the gun as police slaughter their people and pile bodies in the street.

They will be taught to embrace liberalism, to believe in the moral progress of the state and corporations, and to basically live in this infantilized and insulated fantasy world as horrors unfold around them. That is the ideological womb that the American liberal man seeks refuge in.

It is warm and cozy, like a blanket that shields you from the harsh realities of life.

Disconnected from reality. Why work hard when you get validation just for trying? Just working out does not make you healthy.

Someone looking for honesty and instead gets coddled. People need honesty if they have any chance of improving.

Few things are more frustrating than someone who hides from the truth for their own comfort. Even outside the context of something as clear cut as fitness, you try and point out the truth and it just doesn't fit their emotions.

Eventually you realize that some minds cannot handle the truth even if they seek it out. Just trying to seek the truth is enough, it satisfies the emotional aspect of understanding. It lends legitimacy to delusion, because you can at least lie to yourself that you were fair.

Reddit is ****, humour is bad and discussion are centered around the same circle-jerked opinion. It is basically filled with pretentious below-average/ average IQ people who think they are intelectuals but in reality don't know anything other than some random useless trivia crap. Numerous times have tried going into discussion with some facts and properly well structured arguments that are against the usual opinion there, was downvoted and replied to with passive-agressive comments without any valuable argument that counter my statement.

It is a place for social outcasts. I imagine most of them as being vorarephiliacs in their spare time and such perverts in that rank. The other bit left are LGBTs who seek attention.

I absolutely hate the chain comments followed by some cringe dumbass joke. Everyone is trying to outdo the above comment with a more cringe joke just to get some useless karma points. I just hate the overall tone of that site. One dude on their called COVID the greatest threat of our generation then I responded that it’s only a threat of you are a fat retard who munches on Doritos and slurps Mountain Dew all day. I got banned right after.
