Good stocks to invest ~20k in

I have about 30k in my portfolio currently, about 50/50 etfs and stocks. I have 20k more to invest now. I’m not an expert but I’ve made some excellent returns in the last couple years. Any recommendations?

Personally I would put it all in ethereum and wait a few years for 100% profit. In the end it's all gambling, and crypto has shown it will recover to new all time highs for like 10-15 cycles now. I consider it a safe bet there will be at least one cycle left, but it is a gamble.

I was thinking about putting 5-10k of it into crypto. What makes you think ethereum will be more profitable than btc?

I bought one btc at 4K a few years ago I definitely regret selling.

I’m not very knowledgeable about crypto if you could send me some info I’d be grateful.

They will likely both recover to a somewhat equal degree. If you wait long enough, both of them will likely go up +100%. The thing with cryptos is they swing all over the place that buying almost anything in the top 10 is going to work out in your favor one day. Ethereum is just one that is most likely not to fall off the map like DOT or UNI might eventually, as it has the advantage of being one of the OGs. During a bull market, one thing will go up 40% and you'll think fk, I should've bought that. Then a month later it's down back to where it was, but something else is up 40%. The trick is to sell at the right time, and the right time to do it is probably at 100% profit.

Ethereum just does a lot more than bitcoin, it's a giant network with a lot of things occurring on it like NFTs (digital artwork-type stuff basically with a large market, some of them sell for millions for whatever reason), most other cryptos are based on it, smart contracts, etc. Bitcoin is 'just' bitcoin, a transferrable currency that incentivizes 'miners' to continue to build up the blockchain. Both of them are extremely complicated and hard to explain in depth outside of an essay explaining what all of these terms mean.

Crypto does cause a lot of regrets as well, it is what it is. I had 230,000 doge at 0.02 that I sold at like 0.04.

I'd keep a good chunk of that in cash, given how the market is already sitting at all time highs and Bad Chit in the near term seems inevitable.

At least hold some until after the Federal Reserve retreat in August. If they come back from that saying they will "talk about thinking about raising rates", the entire market will puke 5-10% across the board.

At this exact moment I wouldn't put my money in anything because the market is at all-time highs. But if you don't care at all about timing and are thinking in terms of a 5+ years time frame, you can't go wrong with an index fund like SPY. As for individual stocks, my biggest positions are ROKU, SE, and AMD, but I wouldn't buy any of them at these prices.

As for crypto, the only reason they're a good bet is because of the Fed. Do I think they'll go back to previous highs sooner than later? Yes. But they'll have massive crash if/when the Fed starts tapering that'll make the recent correction look like a kiddie pool dip. The stock market can correct 15-20% if that happens. Crypto will probably drop 80%, if not more.

I doubt that they'll actually do jack chit until 2023. But September is generally a bearish month.

A real answer, I'm looking at petrobras $pbr right now. Brazilian national oil company, seems undervalued, gas prices are rising and pbr hasn't been keeping up with the rest of the oil companies stock price wise. It went through some trouble a while back and is on the rise now with lots of good news the past couple months. Im Def not a trader or anything so I'd like to hear from any stock brahs with experience what they think.

Just save your money.

At that level, you'd make more from regularly saving a large portion of your income than from stable investments.

Unless you are looking to take huge risks on questionably profitable investments, it may not be worth your time.

You wouldn't want to put 40% of your portfolio at risk if your goal is to build up wealth over time.

If you want to make large returns with that much capital, then you'd need a serious edge in the market.

If you had that edge, you would not be making this thread.
