Python Coders

Hello,

So, been thinking about starting to dabble with Python on my free time and wanted to see if anyone had experience with this language or others.

At the moment I am going to learn the language slowly on my own with tutorials from YouTube and other free websites.

Any MISCers that have learned a coding language on their own and can give a fellow MISCer some tips?

If this goes well I wouldn't mind switching to this career as it allows work to be down at home and from anywhere, which I find very nice.

Practice a little bit every day, understand how everything works not just copy some code and kinda mash it all together. Write code for things you'll actually use. One of my first projects was a calculator that I still use. Good luck OP!

I learned python through some ethical hacking udemy course

then starting doing projects at work. python is easy my guy.

just keep consistent and try to build something

I'd recommend Android development using Google's tools (Java + IDE). It's all free and gets you making mobile apps. But you gotta learn programming basics before you do anything substantial.

And web development is something else again.

I did Coursera' *** data science course.

If you're looking for structured learning I'd start with W3 schools tutorials as a free option then graduate to something like Data Camp.

Doing some on my free time as well. Good language to have in your toolkit if you work with data.

Doing projects is key.

Okay, all these sound like solid advice - at least I know it can be self taught with free courses and tutorials.

I'll be starting a bit of it today with a YouTube video I found that goes over the most basics of Python and then I will go from there.

In the mean time, I'll think of a project or task that I'd like done - maybe something to do with discord.

get some udemy courses, also there's codewars, leetcode and stuff like that where you can solve problems using python
