Decent bench day, Misc. We still lift, brahs

275x13,10,10,11,10

Not bad for third bench day back. Can't wait for a new variant to shut gyms down for a couple months again.

I dragged a parachute for a mile, ran a mile with a 20 pound vest, and threw a medicine ball for five minutes. I juggled a rope for five minutes too. Then I took my son to the gym and shot some hoops.

Thanks, brah.

My shoulders are absolutely immaculate and I used to bench 4x/week.

Its not the exercise, it's the technique.

Yeah, lots of people do, but you knew that.

You tore your pec twice benching 265-286 lbs? What the fuk.

There was definitely a problem there, but it wasn't the exercise. You sucked at benching/taking care of your body.

It's tough to stomach, but it's just good to be back in the gym again. A few weeks isn't anything in the grand scheme of things.

Thanks dawg

Honestly, just a ton of technique work and refinement, and then a lot of reps with light weight. And always more tricep strength.

I like that you gave yourself the weakest excuse ever and then doubled down on it with "but other people do it too."

It's okay to admit that you suck dick at benching and just never bothered to actually get good at lifting weights.

See numbers in sig, never a single injury. Brb stretching every day, warming up properly, lifting properly, slow progress over a lot of years. Try it out.

I've been back training consistently 12 weeks now after 4.5 years off. Stacking it up nicely and hit 100kg (8x3) on my flat bench yesterday. (I'm 6'2 95kg atm). Feels good mayne.

To paraphrase a quote I came across recently, "Long-term consistency is more important than short-term intensity." This one resonates with me well after working out again since late this May, having gone 14 months prior to that without a single workout and with complete disregard to diet and my health in general.

We're all gonna make it.

Gjdm. Consistency is key. Training makes you feel so good.

Exactly. Guys in here talking about blowing their pecs at low weights. You gotta take care of your body and think about a year or two down the road, not hitting big numbers ASAP.

It's literally my third week back after the gyms were closed due to covid. The bench number in my sig is a peaked, meet day number. There's going to be a big difference between those lol.

How much do you weigh OP? just curious if you don't mind. Also appreciate the bench tips. I'm always going too heavy (for me) and get plateau.

Don't mind at all. I don't check often. I think I was 227.9 lbs in the gym yesterday, so take that for what it is. Probably wake up under 225.

Most people find that bench press benefits from higher volume and frequency with lower intensity. It really helps to be technically sound. YMMV, of course, and I'm speaking from a powerlifting point of view.
