JFL @ the absolute state of American cities

Living in Denver, nice area, 1600/month rent. Inspired by the misc Wendy's thread, I walked about five minutes to a nearby Wendy's. Crossed the street to avoid an entire road of homeless people living in tents. Litter absolutely everywhere. Get to Wendy's, closes at midnight, try to open door, closed, lights off inside. Saw some black brah bloatmaxxing walk past with a load of food, ask him if they're open for me to walk in, he keeps walking, looks back as if surprised someone spoke to him, and says 'yes'. Walk to drivethrough, yell, no one answers though I saw employees in there. Go to window where long-haired slackjawed ******* is playing on his phone with back to the window, knock loudly.

Dude tells me they're shortstaffed because five people called off work so there's only two of them. Give him my order three times. Baconator, six piece nugget, strawberry lemonade, large chocolate frosty. Finally get order, laugh about making thread on misc on walk home. Open bag for first time, no nuggets.

Absolutely pissening.

Walked five minutes to get some food brah. Lol at the fact I have to pound on the drive through to get a baconator. Sorry you're such a slackjawed ******* you can barely speak to another person so the thought of doing that is funny to you. Should I walk away with my hands in my pockets instead of figuring out how to get what I want?

speaking of wendy's & homeless people. Had a former co-worker tell me a story about seeing some panhandlers (3 of them) on a street corner on his way in to work (at a different job) and he decided to pull over and ask if they wanted him to grab them some food from Wendy's. They responded "Uhh... what about McDonald's?"

human garbage, no doubt

jfl I walked past one carrying some sort of cushion and with his head down and twisted to the side weirdly. Another was some middle aged woman yelling at some cat to come to her. They're all over Denver, it was terrible 8 or so months ago.

I don't give anything to homeless people at this point. I did when I lived in South Carolina and got harassed, told the food wasn't good enough, etc. One time a pregnant woman and her man come up to me asking for food for the Sonic's down the street. I gave them like five dollars, walk ahead, turn back a couple minutes later and see them walking across the street towards the liquor store. JFL. They're homeless for a reason, you don't end up on the streets for long unless you want to be there, no one in the world likes you, or you have zero motivation to do anything.

What? Where is that not the rent for a decent area in Denver? That's the price in RiNo, Highlands Ranch, and Capitol Hill, which are all some of the better areas of the city.

Last time I was Denver was like 10 years ago. It was nice during the day, but ghetto as hell during the night. I took an oxy I got from a pizza hut delivery driver in Wyoming a few days before and got drunk. Got into an arguement with a buddy and decided to walk back to the hotel. Homeless and shady people everywhere, I'm surprised I didn't get mugged on my 3 hour journey.

This entire city exists just to be near some mountains, which is the reason I'm moving at the end of the month. It's just a gateway to the outdoors, which I can have without living here.

Colorado used to be good until the marijuana bill passed and all the losers from out of states invaded our existence and fuked everything up.

Mediocre but I assume it is fairly chitty everywhere for the past couple of years. Before the pandemic I enjoyed it to some extent, there are less fat people here so the women are generally decent. There are some nice jazz clubs. People will casually chat you up if you're sitting at the bar. The fancy cocktail places I went to were small and crowded but there are some decent ones. I assume it's the same as it is everywhere: fun if you know the right people. It's not a huge party city or anything with raging nightclubs. There's a big Grateful Dead bar scene from what I've been dragged into.

Depends on what you like I guess.

Thanks for the input seems like I would def like Denver then I really love bars where people are open to interact with each other even if they're strangers. One thing I don't like is ppl that go to bars then just stay with their cliques, and shut down everyone else. Can't wait for the fall going to Munich, and doing a eurotrip maybe squeeze in Denver if I do lets meet up for a drink boyo.

The city made it legal to 'camp' in the public, so they are everywhere now. They particularly took over all the public parks a while ago, though it improved after a while. It is about as nice as you are going to get under these conditions. I live right next to the Governor's mansion, about eight months ago the homeless camps were even setting shop in my exact neighborhood until they kicked them out after a week. Bunch of homeless crack heads were wandering around shirtless, all white, but they had a "DONATE TO BLM" sign up JFL. The point is it's supposed to be a nice area but recent changes and just the general decay of America has made it less desirable than living in some random rural area. L.A. is also supposed to be 'nice' but Hollywood looks trashy and if you turn down the wrong street you'll go from mansions to slums.

American cities are crumbling relics of a post ww2 boom

Just drive around and you can see all the major infrastructure crumbling under the weight of useless eaters and endless waves of immigrants

LOL damn, you cant make this sht up. I drove down to 16th st mall yesterday. sht is dead. like 1/10 of the amount of ppl compared to when i first moved here.
i drove past an abandoned diner and there was a tent setup right where the front door would be. I thought about how nice it mightve been 10 years ago. I love Diners.

I pretty much never go down to the downtown area anymore, but I remember driving by a block with new apartment buildings and there was a vacant lot jsut filled with tents. meanwhile apartments with $2k was on the opposite site
