Australian media is pushing pure propaganda about Covid at this point.

This morning in the news, I read that unless lockdowns are extended and mass vaccinations are implemented, there could be "mass hospitalisations" and "thousands and thousands of deaths".

We all have realizations about things from time to time that can sometimes even radically change our views of things and/or wake us up to some major BS. It's OK to change your views over time as you learn new things. It's OK to say 'hey maybe I was wrong about that and maybe it's really like this instead.'

- Who can manipulate the data?

- Does the data get audited by independent 3rd parties?

My position is not so much that lockdowns are to be avoided at all costs, but that those who impose lockdowns have a steep burden of proof to meet. They need to show with tangible evidence, not speculation and possibilities, that there will be thousands of deaths and an overwhelmed health care system.


The policy initiatives are still based on one-dimensional models we know to be obsolete, so how does one meet that burden? Would Australia actually sufferthousandsof deaths, when we haven't had a single death this year, or only one from a case caught last year?

I haven't seen any formal reporting of them, though somebody could be looking at this internally/not public. We can read into that what we will.

Note that this sort of thing will can't be officially known until coronial investigations, which can take years. There are cases of people getting sick and dying shortly after the vaccines, including from known things like blood clots from AZ. But that doesn't prove it was because of the vaccine. Each case needs somebody to investigate whether that particular case was causal or coincidental.

Yeah not going to tell Misc who I work for sorry.

Official mortality statistics take years because of the time required for coronial rulings of cause of death for the interesting stuff (suicides, homocides, etc, and maybe (we will see) adverse effects of vaccines).

The stats that get reported in the Australian media are those released by a massive, complicated and often hostile network of federal and state bureacracies. My take would be that it would actually be really hard to manipulate under these arrangements, due to the sheer number of parties (many of them hostile to each other) who effectively have to sign off on each number.

That doesn't mean they are correct, or aren't subject to crucial assumptions eg the guidelines on whether to classify deaths with covid as deaths from covid etc. But speaking as someone extremely cynical of government behaviour, I suspect it would be hard for any individual party to manipulate these numbers.
