Carnivores of the misc, let’s talk beef
It’s raining so I’m in the house until it stops and have some time to kill. I’m starting a boxed beef business and since I’m a cattle rancher with a near autistic level of obsession with breeding cattle/genetics to produce the best steaks this world has ever seen at the lowest cost possible to consumer I figure this would be a good place to think tank it.
Let’s start off with where you’re currently located and what your preferred cuts cost per pound in addition to any questions or comments... and GO!

Hamburger steak
Flank steak
Round steak
Sirloin steaks 6 oz
I eat those daily
I’m in florida next to NY we got the best steakhouses and bbq spots in the world. And I’m blessed because I am a beef addict and I can get a fix anytime.
Prime rib, ny strip, sirloin 12-16 Oz, and porterhouse I eat too in ample amounts but not daily
Texas and the Carolinas are ok I guess.

I pay $12 to $16 for a strip steak and that is a special occasion, but I am not really a man of means.
I would reckon that people buying top shelf steaks probably have deep pockets, and you could reach them through online retailers. There are a number of ranchers that sell high quality cuts direct over the internet and people pay a premium for it. I'd write them over email or something, they probably have some information and experience with that sort of business that they can share.
If it's really high quality beef then you could also source to high-end restaurants. Maybe you could sell your stuff direct to existing online retailers so you don't have to do all that marketing and website building stuff. I think a good move would be to get an idea of what the market and supply chain looks like. Who is charging what, which companies have the most market share, and what people are buying.
Now I may be mistaken, but don't many cattle ranchers sell their livestock at auction?

You’re not mistaken, almost all cattle are sold at auction. From there they are sent to feed lots or farms to be fed until they reach slaughter weight then sent to slaughter and from there they go to the super market. I have the ability to do all the above, cutting out 3 middle men so to speak.
I gave high hopes for myself and I may be over estimating myself but I firmly believe with my system of cross breeding and grass heavy feed program I can revolutionize how steak quality is measured and appreciated. I just turned my auksushi (Japanese, thing wagyu A5) out with my cows, can’t wait to see the product. Waiting is the hardest part.

However, it does seem like it would be very difficult for the government to enforce this, let alone regulate the lives of people out in the country.
Back in the day, the USSR tried really hard to regulate and control the lives of their citizens. This was somewhat effective in urban regions, but they failed completely to accomplish this out in rural areas. Eventually, they just gave up, because it was a logistical nightmare for them. I mean, imagine what it would be like if they tried to send agents out to every single cattle farm in the USA to confiscate their cattle.
It would be like trying to take everyone's guns.
The way I see it, it's just not something they could realistically do. I could be wrong though, but that's just my take.

However, the idea of producing really high quality beef in a traditional manner seems very viable. From what I can tell, it is a way to preserve that way of life from the ongoing march of factory farms that is destroying rural communities. What's a joke is that these clowns in Washington would ban cattle ranching while collecting lobbyist funds (bribes) from large agricultural corporate interests.

I'm actually not a big Beef person (not what we typically mean when say steak in America) and mostly prefer poultry.
I do love things like Beef Jerky, LEGIT Carne Asada burritos (I no longer live in Cali though), Mongolian Beef, etc.
What do they mainly use for those things? Skirt Steak?

Really I think Tampa has made it at the top of the list of good steak in USA. Last I looked. Maybe it’s different now.
I lived in Indiana and I doubt you or anyone can call me out on better deep fried brain sandwiches which we had the goat diner for those and pork tenderloin.
But yea obviously There’s better bbq lol 😂 elsewhere. You got me there!
The best here I find is located in mobile food trucks for some chicken, ribs and pulled pork. And corn, Mac n cheese and slaw maybe. But sides obviously don’t make the man.
Beans on the side good. I like it cooked ok the can like Hogan out of the can and into the ... Miscer.

I'm a filet guy myself. If I'm paying a lot of money, grass finished makes me feel better about the price, but I can't really tell the difference. I'm definitely not an insert such and such cut has better flavor person, I l'm all for the tenderness.
