How to respond to crazy religiousness?

I went to a meet up this week and a guy was talking about Jesus healing everything and we don't need medicine. People believe in medicine but Jesus actually is doing the work.

Also some crazy 6,000 yr old earth stuff and moon landing was faked.

Just nod until they stop talking or engage? I would normally have engaged but older me figured it wasn't worth the effort.

The same way everyone else dealt with it historically...force.

I mean you can be tolerant to an extent, but when they start getting people killed, the gloves have to come off.

At the very least, they should be deplatformed and censored.

Well, I would only worry about extreme Religious beliefs when they are not forced on you. So, those fundamentalist Christian ones who do not personally want medicine, it's their funeral not yours.

Meanwhile, the Cult of Fauci? Those Religious nuts are the ones who are demanding everyone behave and do as they say, so be sure to watch out for them. Those Critical Race Cultists are also ones to be very wary of.

So I'm sitting across from this guy for 20 minutes and all he does is talk craziness.

I think next week I might just tell him I don't believe in anything he's saying and to please stop talking about it.

You respond to it by cutting ties with him. I've read lot of your posts, and I can guarantee you have some form of autism.

Completely oblivious to anything when it comes to socializing, like a lot of people who post here.

Obviously this "friends" worldview is incompatible with yours, and all it's going to do is slowly build resentment and anger if these themes are a current topic of discussion.

You can't do anything because these with extreme religious views are wired differently. When you base your life views around religion, it's part of you, your upbringing and everything you know. Trying to approach this with logic will not work very well.

The only thing is going to fix it and time, you just have to hope the next gen is going to be less brainwashed than the rest through better education. I think Christianity is a perfect example of that in the first world nations. Because it's not as forceful, people are able to gather more information and make their own decisions instead of Islam and other backward countries/religions alike that force it down your throat, that's why you see Islam spreading more and more, and their followers are quite combative. They get them young and by the time they grow up it's part of you, there's no escaping it. Another lovely strategy they use is to alienate you if you question or don't want to be a follower, they do that in India too. People would rather suffer than lose their loved ones, friends and everything they know, it's brutal.

Well, since he clearly held you down against your will, tied you to a chair and such -- it's time to call the police. That is a crime. You can not restrain people like he did to you. That is utterly and completely unacceptable and very much illegal.

I am sure the whole time you wanted to stand up and leave, which any normal person would do in your situation, but you could not because of him locking you to a table with handcuffs or whatever it was he did.

If you know you have to be around them for a long period of time, just let them talk. You'll never convince them otherwise. Any engagement in their conversationespeciallyif its push back or criticism of their beliefs will make them ramble and yap until they're blue in the face. Just smile and nod.

The only time you talk is when they think they've made a really good point and say"Oh yes, I agree!"

That confirmation of agreement means they can move on to their next subject which is one step closer to the end of their rant.
