LA Guys Trip – tips/suggestions? - reps
Going for 5 nights early September. Myself and my other buddy (both single, 33). Checking out the Green Day concert, maybe hike to the Hollywood sign, do Universal, hit up the beach. Any other things we should def consider?
Thinking of staying at a Hotel in West Hollywood with a good Pool Scene. Roosevelt/Mondrian? Am I missing a hidden gem that’d be good for young singles?
Not sure if the Roosevelt is a little far from nightlife on Sunset/the beach.
Any can’t miss bars in that area? Are dress codes still a thing at any bars (we won’t be dressed like scrubs regardless)? We actually like to sing Karaoke once in a while so will have to find a dive bar for that for a bit one night. Other than that we’re honestly down with all sorts of nightlife. Recommendations for places to grab a bite?
2bdrm air bnb might be better for bringing girls back to but I think we wanna be able to chill at a pool bar so if either of us need privacy we’ll figure that out when the time comes (get another room or something).
Might be able to be swayed to staying near Venice too if I hear a few strong opinions that way

Mama shelter has a good rooftop bar in hollywood.
Mondrian is the place to stay
I'd check out santa Monica for a day, beach and drinking, some cool bars there, cant remember where I karoake'd last time I went

-Maybe check out Sofi Stadium in LA for an NFL game if you have a chance, not sure how early September you are talking. It's a new stadium and it would be the first time they would let fans in since the pandemic didn't allow fans especially in certain states last year.

Yeah my buddy owns a viper and loves driving convertibles so we're def considering getting a sweet car for part of it.
First weekend of Sept so no NFL but I'm fine with that.
Would do NFL with a different group of friends anyways.
Is the Aileen Getty Hike to the sign aight or would we be better off going to Griffith Park or Runyon Canyon?

Not sure why you’d want to visit LA ..... nothing to see that’s any different from the rest of costal SoCal unless you’re seeing a big band that doesn’t stop in SD or seeing a world class act
The chargers and rams suck ass too
I’d say take a relaxed one week break in La Jolla by the cove but it might be too slow paced for you
You might also want to move here and fall in love with it afterwards
Yeah just stick to LA brah lol

You could hike Griffith Park and see the Hollywood sign. Drive to Santa Monica, walk around Downtown. If you've never seen the Hollywood Walk of Fame, maybe see it once just to say you saw it. Same for Echo Park Lake, Hollywood Blvd, Runyon Canyon Park, Elysian Park etc. These places aren't impressive, but again, you may wanna' see them just to see them once. If you've got time, drive through Hwy 1 (Big Sur)
Honestly though -- Los Angeles is not the nicest city. The traffic is horrible, there are homeless people everywhere, lots of trash on the streets etc. etc. etc.
I definitely prefer San Francisco over Los Angeles.
Do you have to stay all 5 nights in Los Angeles? Why not stay in L.A. for 2 nights or so (for the concert you're going to see). Then head to San Diego, San Francisco, or Las Vegas for the remainder. Los Angeles isn't worth 5 nights.

For bars if you want a night out doing something a bit different then the Hollywood scene (overrated IMO), my go to spots are Hermosa and Manhattan Beach, though they might be a bit further than you want to go. They're just south of LAX, small beach communities and get overlooked by tourists. Pick one, if you get bored or just want a quick change of venue it's only about 1.5 mile walk up along beach from each other. Lot's of college girls hang out there.
Santa Monica beach is worth checking out. The pier is fun. 3rd St Promenade has lots of shopping. The whole area has tons of places to eat, depending on what food you like can't go wrong with any. At the far end of the pier there is a Mexican restaurant called Maria Sol if you want to sip some margaritas with a scenic view.
Take a quick drive around Marina Del Rey if you are interested in seeing the mega yachts.

Srs- pacific beach is a huge tourist/party town that imo is way better than LA. Lots of uppity dorks who are all about status up there. In SD it's typical but not nearly as bad as LA IMO.

There is literally nothing to do down here except drink and fish. Crawfish season will be coming to an end but it will still be so gd hot and humid you won’t even want to go outside.
I advise a different location. Somewhere more moderate, perhaps on the west coast where the weather is more moderate and there are more activities.

Buddy wanted to see Green Day in Dodgers Stadium so that was enough reason for us to pick our place.
I have family friends in Anaheim who I'm going down a day early to spend time with.
Wouldn't do Vegas unless we had more people coming and could get cabanas/bottle service.
Expectations aren't crazy - I've heard LA is overrated before. We're pretty content just going out to eat/drink/be social for the most part with the odd activity/sightseeing mixed in.
Will def keep the tar pits in mind as it looks to be relatively close.
