Reminder misc, people can be total chit

My sister is physically and mentally disabled. Paralyzed waist down, and the mind of a 4 year old. She has healthcare workers come in to take care of her in my parents home. She had about $200 saved in a jar in one of her cabinets, cash from family members after her birthday. It was missing today. One of her healthcare workers swiped it. Just fukin lol

Health care workers are trash. It's not like they're educated doctors. You can never put valuables out in the open. You can never trust anyone. Live and learn.

It’s true. There was a lady that got fired at an office for stealing someone’s new jumper cables at their desk. Knew there were cameras everywhere. I can’t stand thieves. I learned my lesson at 14 over a minor offense and decided then I’d never take a thing from anywhere again.
This body holding me, be my reminder here that I am not alone.

Yep, I remember being about 9 and trying to steal handisnacks (the cheese/cracker stuff) from a store after school. The owner of the store caught me, made me wait for my parents, explained what I did, and I got what I deserved later. I haven’t stolen anything since.

I can see their logic its not as sinister as you think in all liklihood

I mean not to be ****ed up but how much is she really going to know or be upset about the money missing? to some of those healthcare workers they are making $12 an hour and have 3 kids to support and one of them may have medical bills needing to be paid and in their mind they see $200 cash going to a girl for gifts she wont even notice if its missing, or getting her kid the medical procedure he needs done

not saying its right, but its not as ****ed up from their perspective as you are making it sound.

they aren't causing her undue stress, harm, risk of injury, putting her in an uncomfortable siutuation/position, etc... they just stole extra money laying around.

This is one of the dumbest takes I've seen on the misc, srs. They're a chit person for what they did, OP isn't wrong about that. Doesn't matter if they need the money or not, stealing from other people is scumbag behavior

I didnt say it was right i explicitly said I am not saying this is right

but stealing $200 from a person who just worked for 12 hours earning that money and is about to use it to buy groceries for his family is not the same thing as stealing $200 from a person with the mentality of a 4 year old and the money is just going to be spent on gifts.

Theres desperate people in this world and when it comes to either doing a chitty thing or watching your child suffer, choices get made.

I just am very exposed to this after being a cop for 10 years. The best way to deal with and catch criminals is to understand them, and also being a good cop takes having compassion and understanding for ALL peoples situations.

I will still arrest that person given the correct circumstances but sometimes knowing WHY someone did something, then getting the money given back to the owner and helping them find resources since they are struggling is much more beneficial to everyone then just saying "oh they are a scumbag im going to throw them in jail with all the scumbags where they belong"

idk thats just my way of thinking after years of seeing ****

Stealing from either person is scumbag behavior, I don't give a fuk about how one is not as bad as the other - it's still bad. They don't give a fuk about the other person whether they're rich or poor, they just see an easy opportunity to steal money. Why you're reaching to defend this thug at all is beyond me. A weird hill to die on.
Theres desperate people in this world and when it comes to either doing a chitty thing or watching your child suffer, choices get made.
Then they shouldn't have children to begin with. They're just raising another chit person with no morals. And you realize there are government assistance programs that are made for this? It's called welfare. In first world countries, you don't need to steal from others in order to keep your children alive and healthy. Most likely they're stealing for selfish reasons.

You're overcomplicating this. No one is saying they should be thrown in jail for life, but they are scumbags. You can understand a murderer, rapist, etc. doesn't change that they are what they are. You think if I catch some thug stealing from my car, I'm going to show compassion and have a talk with them? Fuk that, I'm bashing their face in.
