Tipping fast food workers?

Just bought a sub from subway

And when I went to pay using the interact machine it asked me how much of a tip I would leave.

Same thing happened at the smoothie shop. The girl I was with paid, when the tip screen popped up she asked what this was, the girl said oh select your tip amount and hit next. I loudly said just push no tip, smoothie girl gave us the stink eye then I smiled and we sat down and waited for smooethies.

How do you not justify not tipping fast food workers? It's a great way to voluntarily redistribute wealth to the proletariat.
