Both MS and amazon have a wider consumer base and offer a bigger variety of products.

Because they innovate and have a more device/consumer centric ecosystem that puts out products the average consumer is willing to shell out $1000 for

Microsoft dominates business/IT because its simply a more cost effective option for large institutions, and also the fact that apple is more tailored to lifestyle/photo and video editing
