Notice the "control the truth" part. That's the reason people like me are so hell bent on annhilating the enemies of truth and reason. Science cannot function under a dictatorship unless the dictator is very knowledgeable in science. Otherwise, the government will stifle the sciences and they will suffer.

I love science as it it able to quantify known phenomena in the natural world, but it still doesn't have all the answers.

Yeah - if he had any discernment ability, he would notice that these ppl didn't outright "eliminate science" or jail scientists or revert to religion etc. For the most part, they outlawed certain scientific schools of thought or processes that they disagreed with and had their own state sanctioned science which they dogmatized.
