i agree wholeheartedly about religion being a human reaction

But im not sure what you mean by spirituality about to nuke science

And if religion is a human reaction, how do individuals then respond to their own spirituality without religion

It attempts to combine ancient knowledge of social cohesion from many actually insightful people. Removing the supernatural element, and the ideas still look valuable.

Yeah but there's a lot of fiction involved and mixed in with the wisdom. A lot of Christian moral insights are resentiments of values i.e. rich = bad, poor = good, doing what one wants = bad, doing what you're told = good, etc

It's a lot of idealism and not a lot of realism

You can be a religious person where u don't literally take it srsly but just look at the obvious stuff that encourages u to live a good life.

Take Mr. Rogers, for example. He was a good Christian. ALways tried to help people. Didn't take the chit so srs that he was attacking science, etc. Instead, he was about teaching ppl and being a source of hope and guidance for them. That's the point of religion -- to HELP people. But it doesn't always do that -- especially when it is demanded that people take its scriptures as true.

True. They used to use the bible to keep slaves feeling good about being slaves and not rising up. They even made a specialized Slave bible srs

Nietzsche called Christianity a proponent of slave morality or herd morality

There's a lot of wisdom in the Bible, but like I said the fiction + the idealism seem contradictory to the wisdom and make it obvious the book is manmade. It seems illogical to think any religious text is truly some divine art not conceived by humans. Any wisdom or fiction they contain was written by a human

If you appreciate that humans around the world and through time have had probably millions of different religions that people believed in enough to kill and die over - it's REALLY hard to think that any single religion around today that people care about is somehow the one out of millions that just happens to be right.

I think religions are best seen as means to an end, not the end itself. The end religions should be working towards is universal truth and Earthly wisdom. The recurring themes in religions and/or cultural norms may be a good foundation for spiritual truth and wisdom
