How bad is a 25-30 minute commute to work? (Cereal)

Deciding between two options, leaning towards second

Opt 1: 10 minute walk to work, 30m2/322 sq ft (but no washing machine, drying machine etc, can only fit small dinner table, small tv etc.)

Opt 2: 25-30 minute subway incl. walking, double the size of first option, has everything I want in it

Same price for both. Which would you choose bros?

Both options sound pretty bad to me. Are you serious about 322 square foot? Hell double that is still extremely small. I currently have 1585 and it feels just right. (Also have a garage that's about 500 square foot so add that I suppose).

A 25-30 minute commute sucks but if its a lot of walking that's your daily cardio. So that is a good thing too.

I personally like walking 2-3 miles per day. (Take the doggo).

Timewise thats pretty normal

But the other aspect is stress of the commute. If its all rush hour where people are constantly trying to cut you off for 30 minutes, fuk that

But if its just driving on the interstate for 30 mins, not bad at all

fuark 322sq ft?

probably option 2 just because of the extra room

25-30 mins isnt an awful commute

commuting is a burden if youre driving 1+ hour to and from work each day

thats rope territory

I lose about 3 hours a day just commuting to work and coming back home. 25 to 30 mins is God sent compared to the hell I go through on a daily.

My old commute was about 45-50 min, but highway and some traffic. It sucked most days. Sometimes without traffic it could be 30 min, so that was good.

New commute is 25-30 min all twisty back roads with beautiful houses. It's not too bad. I've lived in NYC Metro most of my life, and any subway commute is absolute hell.

I used to ride the bus to work in a food store years ago. It was about 90 minutes each way.

Yah, I did that, jfl @ me

Op, honestly 30 minutes isn’t bad.. that would be the top end for me now. I wasted a lot of my life sitting on a chitty bus or driving my car and being stuck in traffic.

25-30 minutes isn't bad at all for having a better home/personal life, as long as it's still in a preferred area. Just chill on the subway, listen to music and Misc until your stop.

When I was in L.A./Ventura Co. my commute was 50 miles so I could be in a quieter, less crowded and better location. Downside was that it would take me at best an hour to get to work, on a bad day around 2 hours and on a few rare occasions, wasn't able to make it to work when the freeway was closed due to bad accidents and no backroads to take.

I had been living a couple blocks from my work (5 minute walk, Sherman Oaks just off Ventura Blvd) but hearing fire truck/ambulance/police car sirens all night in an old building for 2 1/2 times the rent, I GTFO.

25-30 minutes these days is nothing.

I work with people who do an hour-hour and a half each way.
You couldn't pay me enough to spend that much time commuting. Fuk that.

Option 2 for sure, you'll be happier in the long run.

I used to drive 30 miles one way (30-45min) and it sucked. People are always acting like animals on the highway and traffic can be brutal. I can't imagine driving an hour plus every day. Since I moved I only drive 3 miles lol.

In your situation, the subway might not be so bad. You'll probably be able to read, use your phone, listen to music etc to pass the time. Walking almost sounds refreshing too. Option A sounds like too much of a sacrifice. I'm all for tiny living, but that sounds like too tiny.

What subway are we talking about?

What would the laundry situation be like in the shoebox? Is there something in the building or would you have to go to a laundromat? It sucks going to do laundry only to find out all the machines are in use.

25 -30 mins is more like daily entertainment. Brief walk before after work makes you feel good.

I do that commute every work day, but it's mostly highway. I listen to "The Breakfast Club" on the way, then listen to a crime podcast on the way back. It's relaxing and helps to decompress after a rough day to just kind of zone out and have your mind take a break and once I'm home or at the gym I feel good

Not bad.

1 Hour+ is where it becomes arduous.

Use to do 2.5+ wind shield time work to home in California.

Was awful. Even in a car pool.

I drive 1.5 hrs each way just to the office. If I’m in the field it can be anywhere from 2 to 4 hours one way, and then location to location you’re looking at driving up to 1800 miles or more a week. Oilfield in West Texas. It’s just commonplace here and it’s considered normal.

30 minute is not bad at all. I’ve worked with people who commuted from Pennsylvania to midtown, NYC daily. My commute was almost an hour and a half. 30 mins is cake.

25-30 minutes commute is alright. I'd go with option 2.

I'm not saying you will ever be late but I'd rather regret being late to work, if you are ever tardy, than regret being 10 minutes away from work which gives you no excuse to be late and "no washing machine, drying machine etc, can only fit small dinner table, small tv etc."

Which one is closer to friends and or nightlife?

I would go for the one with the amenities. Fck having no washing machine; good luck washing your clothes in the river with the 2nd and 3rd worlders.

Edit: 30 m2??? Fck that!
