More fake news in mattress reviews than politics

Looking to buy another bed, king, under $2k. Can't stand all the fake sites and review sites, worse than politics. Bought one that we use for guest bedroom now, Nest Alexander series, American made. I prefer super soft beds, I dont know why but I do and I sleep stomach/side. The Nest bed is comfortable but it sleeps hot, I had to buy a Chilipad(it does work) for me to be able to sleep on it. After 4yrs, it doesnt have ANY sag to it and doesnt cave to a middle zone, sleeps like the first week I owned it, I still use it sometimes.

3 companies I'm looking at are:

Nest(American made, was bought out by R&S now which owns Brooklyn Bedding so not sure I will buy again)
Charles P Rodgers(making beds in America for 180yrs)

Trying to find unbiased review sites... lol. Sleep Sherpa and Sleepopolis seem to be most trust worthy but not 100%. Every review site recommends different beds cause they are paid, you would think there would be some sort of consensus in a brand so far.

Best way to know is to go to a store and try the bed.

You ever notice how there's almost never a lone mattress store in a shopping center, there are usually 3 "different" ones grouped near each other?

Spoiler!
The mattress industry is a money laundering operation.

Just go to your local Mattress Firm and pick the one that's most comfortable...it's just a mattress. I prefer medium firmness.

IKEA beds are all firm, no soft ones, already tried.

The thing about trying in store it’s not always accurate either. The current one I have I tried in store, the one I received is a lot firmer and hasn’t changed after 6 months. Pretty common complaint I’ve come across.

Yeah fake reviews are a big problem, even on ebay and amazon. However I hope this keeps small businesses alive alongside brick and mortar versions too.

Now they all are. I had this amazing mattress from IKEA years ago that was so soft. It was amazing. I tried looking for it again but couldn’t find anything but firm.

This. OP i Spent 6 years in mattress industry on n off and can say all those bed in the boxes are junk. Same with ikea. You get what you pay for to an extent.

Everybody deserves a good night rest cheaping out on health/a mattress is bizarre how important sleeping is to the body

Send me a pm if you really want to discuss a solid mattress I can recommend you. The ones in your OP are bad

Got a memory foam mattress at Walmart for $200

lol @ paying 2k what a joke. There’s literally no difference but the brand. Just metal springs, foam, and fabric. It’s like thinking a $300 gucci shirt is better then $20 shirt

That’s absolutely retarded. One is a piece of foam that will hammock your body causing pressure points/aches and pains and a real memory foam like tempurpedic contours the body. Difference is “support”, comfort and also cooling features.

Lmao at saying a 200$ mattress is same as a 2000$+ mattress please don’t be so stupid if you do not know what you’re talking about

You know there is scientific proof you get better REM sleep on a hi end bed vs some cheap 1000$ mattress you buy at IKEA

Box springs cost around 400$ alone in a king size

Also people driving 10,000+ cars who spend an hour in it and have maybe 1-3 years

While a mattress you spend 8-12 hours in and you’ll spend 200$ on that? Lmao my good god. RIP to your health goals of 2021

I don't think there are real difference between mattresses. Get a new one every few years and buy whatever is comfortable. If you have a Bob's Furniture near you check theirs out, imo they had the best comfort : price ratio.

Cannot stand foam/memory mattresses. They're terrible for banging because they absorb your motion. Gotta have springs so you can plow away and use the rebound momentum. Makes it feel like you're smashing at least 3x as hard and gives you more endurance because you're not wasting energy.

Dunno what I’m gonna do when I need a new bed.

Had a locally owned business with a huge factory that had contracts with local high end casinos/resorts that were known for super comfortable mattresses.

They built ours one of high end custom king sizes according to what felt best from their models etc.. was reasonable price like 2500.

Out of business since then, all other mattress stores are rip offs unless they do production as well.

Fukkin hate those thick foam matresses. They're ok for a while till the foam breaks in.
Once that happens you're sleeping in a fukking dish.

I went through this journey last year.

https://www.themattressunderground.c...esses/mattress

Is a good resource.

I ended up going with a latex mattress on top of a spring base. It was shipped to me in prices and I had to assemble it myself (not hard) because latex weighs a ton and I have a king It is the most durable material you are going to find, should last over a decade. Similar to memory foam except it is breathable so you don’t sleep hot and has great bounce back unlike a memory foam that makes you feel trapped. 10/10 purchase. There are 2 types of latex and the weight/density determines how firm it is. So glad I spent the extra time and money to get latex. Truly a game changer, only downside is the weight which doesn’t matter to me.

Also the springy qualities of latex on top of a coil base provides great bounce for sexors.

Cliffs:

Go with latex unless you hate yourself

Latex and spring combo is very rare: it’s the hotel mattress at 5 star hotels: beauty rest usually. Super supportive mattress and comfy at first,

But it can be unforgiving and get old super fast as it doesn’t cradle your body like a memory foam will offer.

Try a hybrid Tempurpedic mattress next, I bet you’ll love it more

You are not wrong, but has not affected me personally I or something I haven’t learned around to do.. memory foam are terrible for that because no motion transfer, but for sleep memory foam wins by a long shot.

Gotta rest still after bro.

In the market myself. Sounds like a "AMA - 6 years in mattress sales" would be a good thread.
