Why dont people do this as a race, about the same distance, and would be fun to watch them online in real time etc

Some people have done this if you mean running, there are people that do coast-to-coast crossings.

If you mean motor race that would be sweet, would have to clear the highways but everyone would watch that.

That is pretty sweet, would do something like that.

The equivalent here is the Appalachian Trail and the Pacific Crest Trail which both cross the country vertically and have lots of people going at the same time of year.

Here is a rail journey I've been wanting to do for a while, though I doubt it's possible now with the current lockdowns.



Takes about 10 days to cross Europe/Asia lengthwise in total travel but would probably take stops in various places.

Not too expensive either as the longest leg is Russia.
