Why do people get offended if you guess they are asian?

Girl at my gym, asked her where she's from, she told me to guess and i said Filipino. She got super offended and asked if she really looks azn.

Not the first time it's happened to me srs

I don't know what she looks like or where she's from, but this is probably because some Latin Americans with indigenous features and people from Eastern Europe are often mistaken for Asians.

It was the first time you asked this question, but it may have been the thousandth time she heard it.

I’ve been asked if I’m Asian a couple of times and it’s taken me by massive surprise...not because I’m offended, just cos I’m not Asian at all lol it’s weird.

Ethnically ambiguous people get offended when you mis-identify their race in general. It is a reminder that they have no history or genetic specificity which in turn makes them appear alien and strange.
