Shood I start talking to my estranged mother?

I havent been in contact for like 10-15 years but the last couple years I have gotten txts from her saying she still thinks about me and wood like to go get together. I always ignore. But I recently found out she owns rental properties. She is also getting old (68). Shood I make amends in hopes of getting the properties/money from her? She ended up divorcing our father after 30 years. My sister is on guvment handouts so i am the only successor. It seems like it wood be a good idea even tho i dont care about her and in fact have a lot of anger towards her.

Once she's gone, she's gone. Don't wait until after you hear she has died, or that you finally search for her and find out she died a while ago. Guess how I know.

At the same time, don't stress yourself out about it or make too much of an effort if she won't. Just know you at least tried.

I dont know your whole situation, but lol at the only reason you're considering making amends with your aging mother is just so that you can leech off her properties when she dies.

Alot of parents tell their kids how to live their lives, that's probably their way of trying to prevent them from making the same mistakes they made when they were younger. Hmmm. This seems like a troll but I will answer seriously.

If you are nice to your mother just for the money it is fine. Your mother will be happy to reconnect and the money won't help her when she is dead. I don't think your mother cares about money at this point. Go for it. Make her happy and yourself happy.

You may find that your anger disappears over time and what started for 'not so good reasons' develops into a beautiful relationship of reconnection between mother and son. If you find that the anger does not go away then politely excuse yourself.
