Was heading to hospital in downtown Toronto to see if there was any other opinion or testing I could do cuz Ive been fukd since jan.
And on the way in.. a guy came up to me on the street and gave me some story about how he needs food and isnt embarassed to admit he needs help. Seemd really quiet and honest..
but I was like, I cant really help and im heading to hospital atm.
So I went in for a few hours and they were of no help to me.

Anyways, after I left, I was waiting for uber and I hear some scuffling across the street and there he is again.

This time he walks up to me with the same introduction and at the end, he says "I will even get down on my knees and BEG. Please!" and he got down on his knees and was holding his hands together..
my uber came right at that moment and I said sorry I cant really help.

I have my own problems atm but life is pretty brutal man...
and if any1 has been to downtown Toronto lately.. mainly yonge and streets like jarvis at night.. the homeless problem is bad.
It also is very dirty and looks like a third world country..
donno wtf is going on around here but even in Scarborough its rare to see a homeless person.

Anyways.. I have some pretty bad health probs but at least im not in that situation..

How could you possibly help? If they seem genuine enough i'll buy them food. Nothing else.

Most do not want food and will be pissed if you offer it. They want money for drugs / cigarettes / booze.

There is a reason they are homeless. A huge chunk are total lying a-holes. I feel bad for them but it is easy to hate them at the same time. Most "helpable" homeless aren't homeless in America for very long.

Yea I call that area methadone alley. Ever since the pandemic methadone clinics have popped up like you wouldn’t believe.

You could have bought him a premade hospital sandwich or some thing from a vending machine. But in Canada we have many soup kitchens and homeless shelters. Not sure why he wouldn't just drop in to one of those...

Had a guy asked me for a pound for a can of beer last time I was at the off-license. Just lol'd at him and walked away. Fcking Scottishcels.

I offer to buy them some food. Most of the time their reaction tells you whether they are being legit and unfortunately most of the time they want money for something other than food. If he was on his knees begging, I doubt it was for food.

That would be a first one for me man. Most homeless here ask you bluntly or threaten to assault/kill you lmao. I will say I have been going to Toronto most of my life. The last time I was there (late 2018) the homeless population was insane compared to the previous visit (2012). It really went downhill, even felt like an American city. Not sure WTF is going on but it’s sad to see considering it was once the cleanest, safest, all around nicest big city in the Western Hemisphere.

if they mention food i almost always give them money just in case they truly need it.

A few years ago I was in a pub garden and a homeless bum asked for £1 so he can get a can of beer.

We all have him £1 so he could get fcked up like we were

There’s a massive addiction shelter or whatever right at queen and Jarvis which is why that strip from Yonge-sherbourne is always dodgy. It does suck seeing the situation some of them are in, but also some are huge dicks. There’s a woman in a wheelchair who spits on like everybody she passes.

i wood punch her in the face if she spit on me. maybe even steal her wheelchair

I used to work as a bouncer at a bar, not a huge town(Savannah, ga) but plenty of bums as we have an Amtrak and a greyhound station. The degenerates would make life as a bouncer almost miserable. One guy had aids and if you got into enough **** with him he’d try to make his mouth or nose bleed and spit/blow snot in your face. Got into a fight with another one for disturbing customers, and his fuqking dogs mauled my leg. Couldn’t glue it together so had to go to the ER.

I can count on one hand the number of decent homeless people I’ve come across. The rest even openly admit they make more money pan handling than they ever could at a job they’d be qualified for.

The honest ones don’t bother me, it’s the liars. I had a guy ask me 14 cents because that’s exactly how short he was for a pack of smokes, I gave him 5 bucks for being honest. If you smell like piss, and have a sob story about how your car broke down and you need 5 dollars for gas to get back to your family, you can fuq right off. You can have exactly nothing.

Why were you going to the hospital?

Giving money to homeless enables their addictions. It is the opposite of help.
