Could Covid's Effects be Mostly Genetics Based?

So much randomness and inconsistency to how covid has affected people.

- Old people get covid and are fuked
- Old people get covid and are fine

- Young people get covid and are fuked
- Young people get covid and are fine

- Some require hospitilization, regardless of age and health
- Some are asymptomatic, regardless of age and health

- Many are in close physical contact (hugging, sex, etc.) with covid positive people, and never catch it
- Others take every precaution (mask, distancing, vaccine, etc.) and still catch it

- Some catch it multiple times despite being careful
- Others never catch it despite exposing themselves to crowds/people constantly

Yes there are trends in certain directions, but enough randomness to ask questions.

As each week/month passes and more is learned, is it possible we'll find out this is a (likely man-made) virus that attacks specific genetic codes (or something similar), explaining why there's such wild variance in symptoms and catching it in the first place?

ACE2 receptors are the only way SARS-CoV can cause moderate-severe illness by allowing the virus to bind to epthitelial cells. This was known from the first SARS threat almost 2 decades ago, the virus was 80% same genetic makeup as the new one. 800 people worldwide allegedly died without any restrictions despite the same underlying cause of death. At that time they were unclear which levels of ACE2 expression would distinguish between no-mild illness and moderate-severe illness.

Magically now millions of people died even though the SARS outbreak, which killed 800 globally had the same mechanism of lethality. Just lol @ covid scam

Yes ACE2 expression is a limiting factor for cell entry. But that is not the only factor involved in virulence. For example NL63, one of the coronaviruses that causes the common cold also utilizes ACE2 for cell entry. It, SARSCOV and SARSCOV2 all use ACE2. They all have radically different degrees of virulence.

I’m not up to date on the host genetics and susceptibility, but the early GWAS literature that came out found no host alleles that could explain severe disease.

Maybe, but I got it very mild, and my father was in the hospital for like 8 days with it. He waited over a week being out of breath before going so that didn't help I guess...
