When will aftermarket LED headlight replacements become illegal?

Or at least when will they start enforcing it like they do with the window tints? One of which is not a danger to other drivers and one is. There nothing more annoying when driving at night than low IQ individuals that put a super powerful LED bulb in their old halogen bulb slot without doing a proper conversion.

One of these days I'm going to install a spotlight on the roof of my car and just drive around at night blinding every fukker with those overpowered headlights.

Its really just how enforcement feels. But yea. I agree they need to start cracking down on it. They thing is, when LO pulls you over for it, they need to open the hood and check out the bulbs and all that jazz. It's alot of work.

Stores don't carry them but Amazon and a few websites is where most people get them. The gov actually shut alot of these websites down in 2000 but they started to pop up again.

That said its really not a big problem anymore.

Not all are bad but a lot of people get the brightest they can find and put them in their jacked up headlamp assemblies where instead of directed light it just spreads it everywhere. Usually poverty cars too.

I would actually respect that 100x more and be mirin the install more than the low IQs that are oblivious to what they are doing.

No aftermarket bulb is legal. You can't make them match the original engineered design.

Its coming back again now. In the past it was drop in HID kits. It died down.
Now it is drop in LED bulbs.
They work with PWM (on off on off) to regulate power output and you can see them flicker on some of them and every time I question if I should ram them off the road into a tree

Yea Ill see them every now and then and it's really annoying. Oh well. We're in the times of getting shot for flipping someone off. I just try not to look directly at the light.

NGL the package design for those LEDs are some top tier stuff. But they are all illegal as aftermarket can never match the original bulb design made by the OEM.

It's not so much the bulbs or the brightness. It's the aim and adjustment.

In some states, inspections to renew license plates require the vehicle to roll up to a screen with the headlights on to check headlight aim for safety.

If the lights are out of adjustment you will be required to adjust the headlights to pass inspection.

Gotta love the pickup drivers who lift their truck, get LEDs, and don't adjust them.

lol @ led conversions in general. 99% of the time they produce less light than the standard halogen lightbulb. they seem brighter but as far as visibility over a distance most of the time its worse from what ive seen. makes sense as even OEM led setups use arrays of 4-6 high powered leds on each side

THANKS no AVI scum, ESSENTIALLY a new housing?

Is it something to do with circuitry that has a more powerful RESISTOR so it LIMITS the power to NOT being a spotlight?

Agree. A good HID retrofit should use a projector to provide the best possible cutoff and to project the most light onto the road surface ahead of the vehicle.

It's one of the most annoying things about driving at night these days. What's crazy is that the people who have them are unaware of how trashy and dangerous it is (or at least I hope it is ignorance). Imagine being that unaware of how your stupidity is a danger to others.

At night I flip the rear view mirror tab to change it's reflection angle. It makes a big difference.

Retards that toss a cheap HID kit into their halogen housings need to be run off the road. They are the absolute worst.

I have like 800+ into a quad morimoto H1 retrofit just so I can have fantastic lighting and not blind anyone else.

Bought new fog light housings with LED lights.

They came on the newer model of my car (Lexus), so spent the 200$ on the swap.
